Aeroturn is a small company of intense engineers and craftspeople with a mantra; Treat everything like it's the only thing! We have a lot of passion. We take great pride in manufacturing a superb product in CT-USA, for the security of the USA. Our staff originally met in the early 80's at a firm engineering products for others. Dozens of patents later, Turnstiles found us.
In the 90's we built over 3000 turnstiles for a customer, and enjoyed doing it. We arranged to go off on our own to create: This Century's Turnstiles! Starting with the proverbial "clean sheet of paper," and thousands of development hours later, we incorporated in 2001 and immediately embarked on invention and testing. We then installed our first Rotary and Linear Turnstiles 2004.
We now have a "Who's Who" customer list, 100% repeat business, a comprehensive range of products and services.

A.
Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

SEQUENCING
A.
Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
1.10
WARRANTY

A.
Manufacturer shall warrant turnstile for a minimum period of five years from date of installation or ten million cycles whichever is exceeded first.
1.
Through testing and field experiences, Aeroturn mechanisms shall be expected to exceed 10,000,000 cycles.

Parts and labor to repair or replace at factory shall be included in the 5 year warranty, provided:

Electronic components are fully warranted for one year from date of installation.
4.
Damage or Malfunction Reported:
a.
Upon investigation, if the damage or malfunction was caused by Aeroturn. Repair shall be made at factory of returned turnstile.
b.
If the components are not damaged in any way but have malfunctioned causing the Turnstile to not work properly, then phone diagnosis and technician support to the fullest extent possible in support of turnstile functionality.

Not Included: Trips to site by Aeroturn for diagnosis, repair or replacement.
a.
Site repairs in excess of 150 miles of factory are billed out at 1 Aeroturn man/day.
b.
If failed component(s) is under warranty then cost of part is waived.
c.
If malfunction is isolated at the site and was not caused by Aeroturn component(s) at billed 1 Aeroturn man/days.

2.1
MANUFACTURERS

2.2
TURNSTILES - GENERAL
A.
Turnstiles shall be capable of a minimum of 10 million continuous duty cycles without scheduled maintenance or service of any type.
B.
Turnstiles mechanics shall be capable of indoor/outdoor application with all-weather - heat, cold, rain, dry, dusty or gritty environments.
C.
Turnstile mechanism shall be engineered for ultra-quiet operation.
D.
Turnstiles shall be capable of Continuous Motion Control. Barrier motion is under the control of the unit at all times through the cycle. This motion can be overridden by the user at any point during passage. A safety clutch shall be engineered and installed that is force adjustable.

2.3
TURNSTILES
A.
Product: Rotary as manufactured by Aeroturn LLC.
1.
Turnstile may be integrated with a building Access Control System to grant or deny access to the facility.
2.
Turnstile shall be capable of utilizing proximity, bar code, magnetic stripe and biometric readers. Readers are factory mounted and protected by quartz coated polycarbonate when possible. Due to the nature of certain types of readers, Aeroturn fabricates reader mounts and guides that will enhance and prolong the service life of the devices.
3.
The pedestrian passageway can be bi-directional at all times.
4.
The passageway can be directionally controlled as to not allow passage in opposite direction of a positive card read. This feature prevents invalid access into the facility.
5.
The Arm and Hub Assembly shall be capable of being replaced without disassembly of any portion of the turnstile cabinet. The Arm and Hub Assembly shall be mechanically assembled and maintain assembly at all times. All replacement of Arm and Hub Assemblies shall take place in the passageway without rear or side access to turnstile cabinet.

Turnstiles shall be non-restrictive to handicap personnel. All lanes shall be capable of providing a 36 inches (914 mm) clear passageway without increasing the size of the turnstile cabinet. I.e. The end cabinet and center cabinet shall be the same physical dimension and still contain a single mechanism. Vertical readers shall be available for wheel chair accessibility on all cabinets.
14.
The turnstile shall be capable of providing a single ADA 36 inches (914 mm) clear passageway lane with an outside dimension of the cabinet footprint of 4 feet-5 inches (1346 mm) maximum.

Turnstile mechanism shall be capable of being offset in a longer turnstile cabinet towards one end from centerline. This feature shall be available if normally unlocked operation is possible. Keeping the barrier arm at the far end of the entrance or exit passageway enables barrier arms to close passageway upon invalid card read without coming in contact with pedestrian.

Glass panels shall be prevented from swinging towards a pedestrian in bi-directional passages.

The passageway shall be directionally controlled as to not allow passage in opposite direction of a positive card read. This feature prevents tailgating and invalid access into the facility.

Turnstiles shall be non-restrictive to handicap personnel. All lanes shall be capable of providing a clear passageway without increasing the size of the turnstile cabinet. I.e. The end cabinet and center cabinet shall be the same physical dimension and still contain a single or double mechanism. Vertical readers shall be available for wheel chair accessibility on all cabinets.

The glass panel shall be capable of being replaced without disassembly of any portion of the turnstile cabinet. The glass panel hinge shall be single piece extruded construction. All replacement of glass panels shall take place in the passageway without rear or side access to turnstile cabinet.

The turnstile shall provide optical resetting of the lane.

Operation shall be capable of allowing one single passage per valid card read. Passageway shall be directionally sensitive and optically resettable. If pedestrian attempts to travel in opposite direction of valid card read; glass panel will close and not allow invalid access to the passageway.

All components and assemblies are designed specifically for turnstile model. Power supplies, on-board ups, circuit breakers shall be DIN rail rigidly mounted inside the turnstile cabinet. Control board, interface board and programmable CNT relay shall be mounted on an equipment plate inside the turnstile cabinet.

Entrance/exit control is performed by a dry contact closure of no more than 200ms. Fire open control is performed by breaking the normally closed wire pair/circuit provided at the turnstile control board. Push button/panel and exit control shall be available.

Turnstile shall operate with a 24vdc micro-controlled brushless motor capable of demonstrated 10 million continuous cycles without any type of scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Site adjustable independent panel speed shall be available. A continuous duty (capable of 14 million rotations) safety slip clutch shall be coupled with motor to provide safety to the pedestrian in case of authorized or unauthorized contact with the glass panels. Safety clutch shall provide the same function in both directions without damaging the turnstile mechanism.

The glass portal turnstile shall be capable of providing a single ADA 42 inches (1067 mm) clear passageway lane with an outside dimension of the cabinet footprint of 5 feet-0 inches (1524 mm) maximum. The glass portal turnstile shall be capable of providing a single ADA clear passageway lane and be mounted to the floor on a 48 inches (1219 mm) centerline.

Turnstile mechanism shall be capable of being offset in the original turnstile cabinet towards one end from centerline. This feature shall be available if normally unlocked operation is possible. Keeping the glass at the far end of the entrance or exit passageway enables glass doors to close passageway upon invalid card read without coming in contact with pedestrian.

Turnstile shall have an available manual key emergency open override at the turnstile cabinet.
16.
Turnstile shall have a passageway odometer internally or remotely mounted.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals and in proper relationship with adjacent construction. Test for proper operation and adjust until satisfactory results are obtained.
3.4
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A.
Contact factory prior to attempting to repair Turnstiles. If damage occurs during a service attempt by non-certified personnel, warranty is voided.
3.5
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
