FEC Heliports is a division of the Federal Equipment Company. FEC was founded in 1982 and began as a small replacement parts supplier for material handling equipment in the US ARMY, US NAVY, US Coast Guard and shipyards throughout the world. Federal Equipment Company quickly grew into a complete engineering and manufacturing company and was recently awarded a 55-million-dollar contract with Huntington Ingalls Industries, formerly Northrop Grumman, to build and install the new FEC designed weapons elevators for the next generation of US Navy aircraft carriers. It was our extensive military experience that paved the way for us to expand into the commercial market in 1996 and open the doors for FEC Heliports.
Experience counts when you're landing helicopters. Over the past 20 years, FEC Heliports has designed, manufactured and installed more rooftop and aluminum helipads than anyone else in the world. Unlike most of our competitors, FEC Heliports has an extensive in-house staff consisting of structural engineers, experienced heliport designers and consultants as well as a complete staff of installers and fabricators. We are staffed to handle multiple heliport projects and still give your project the first-class attention it deserves.
FEC Heliports' engineering department has spent many years perfecting the HELISLAT (rooftop) design. With over 250 rooftop installations in the US and abroad, FEC Heliports' HELISLAT design has been consistently proven with installations in every climate and under every condition without fail. FEC Heliports has its own 70,000 square foot production facility. Why is this important? This facility allows us to design, build and inspect all our heliport equipment before it arrives at your facility. This includes not only the deck and safety netting, but also the lighting, fire suppression skids and snow-melting skids. We can also design and build our own structural steel for decks and walkways, and our facilities allow us to pre-assemble your helipad to ensure proper fitting once we get to the jobsite. SUBMITTALS
A.
Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.

Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

Shop Drawings:

QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Manufacturer Qualifications:
1.
Manufacturer shall have an approved and documented quality control system equal to Mil-I-45208A or ISO 9000.
B.
Installer Qualifications: Contractor shall be financially responsible for obtaining any permits as they apply to the system installation and operation.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
1.7
Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging, out of extreme heat or direct sunlight, until ready for installation. Do not switch fixtures ON until protective peel is removed from reflectors and/or lenses.
1.8
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
1.9
WARRANTY
A.
Warranty Period: Manufacturer warrants our manufactured products and installed systems for 12 months.
B.
Product Warranty: Manufacturer will repair or replace any parts that Manufacturer determines are defective during the warranty period.
C.
System Warranty: Manufacturer will repair or replace any parts or components of the system that Manufacturer determines are defective during the warranty period.
D.
Customer's Obligations: The Customer shall notify Manufacturer of any defects or problems with a part or system within 30 days of the date that the defects or problems were discovered or should have been discovered; failure to notify Manufacturer within this 30-day period shall nullify the warranty regarding that defect or problem.
E.
Maintenance: The Customer is responsible for preventive and routine maintenance.
F.
Extension of Warranty: The warranty period shall not be extended.
G.
Discrete Warranty Claim: When the system returns to normal operation for a 30-day period following action by Manufacturer and the Customer under this warranty, the defect or problem shall be considered resolved.
H.
Other Warranty Provisions: Customer may not assign this Warranty to any other person or business entity, including a successor in interest to the Customer, without Manufacturer's written consent.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's latest published requirements, instructions, specifications, details and approved Shop Drawings.
1.
Install fixtures in proper relationship with helipad and adjacent components.
2.
Install fixtures with clearances recommended by manufacturer.
3.
Install lamps and test for proper operation.
B.
Manufacturer shall provide full-time installation crew to coordinate installation. Contractor shall certify in writing at completion that system is installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
C.
Manufacturer shall coordinate requirements for on-site support required for installation of items supplied, and is responsible for supplying and delivering to the site components required for complete and usable installation whether or not shown or specified by these documents.
3.4
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
