AVCON was created to satisfy the need for a structural railing product that would end the high cost of maintenance and the corrosive effects that time and weather have on traditional railing. This could only be accomplished by identifying a material suitable for the abuse most railing is subject to and to which the typical causes of deterioration would have little or no effect.

In early 1991, AVCON, a pioneer in applied plastics applications, emerged with thermoplastic technological innovations that shattered preconceived notions of plastics and redefined user expectations. With the knowledge that not only must railing perform a necessary service but that railing could be a major complement to a building's appearance, AVCON engineered fabrication techniques allowing flexibility of design and variety in finish and color. Additionally, to substantiate the structural integrity of AVCON Railing, contracts were awarded to independent and certified Professional Engineering Facilities to conduct tests in accordance with accepted ASTM standards proving compliance with national building codes. More recently, additional testing has been completed supporting the requirements of certain areas that railing in place meet twice the load and deflection criteria of standard building codes. In proof of these findings, years of "real use" in extremely abusive, high traffic volume areas, have proven beyond any doubt the strength of AVCON Railing.
