The Nantucket® BeadBoard Co., Inc. originated on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts in 1993 with the manufacture of a sheet product with beaded grooves that simulated the appearance of tongue and groove paneling found in many of the historic Nantucket homes. The BeadBoard manufacturing facility was moved to New Hampshire in 1998. This allowed for the addition of a full paint department and the availability of unfinished or primed BeadBoard products.

In 1999 Nantucket® BeadBoard introduced a moisture resistant product line of sheet and shiplap products extremely resistant to moisture and decay. As of January 1, 2005 all moisture resistant exterior panel products (MRX) are manufactured with Extira™ exterior composite panels. This material is full weather rated and treated with zinc borate for rot and termite resistance. Interior bathrooms and exterior porch ceiling are just a few of the applications to benefit from this new building substrate.
