Kynar 500 ® FSF ® resin is a special grade of PVDF resin used by licensed industrial paint manufacturers as the base resin in long-life coatings for aluminum, galvanized steel, and aluminized steel. Applications include metal roofing and siding, window and door frames, curtain wall and other miscellaneous metal trim and components.

Kynar 500 PC® is a powder coating electrostatically applied after initial chemical treatment to ensure proper adhesion to a variety of substrates including metal and plastic. Kynar 500 PC® is used for a variety of commercial and residential applications.
Kynar ADS® II formulations can be air dried or force dried for a long-lasting high quality coating. Kynar ADS® II is commonly used for heat sensitive materials, including wood, plastic, paper, cloth and metal substrates.
Kynar SL® II resin's lower melting point and broader formulation capability make it ideal for use as coatings for metals, glass, synthetic fabrics, as well as heat-sensitive substrates exemplified by paper, hardboard, overlaid plywood and regular plywood.
Modern times have seen the rise of metal as a prime exterior material, largely due to its rugged durability, design versatility, and aesthetic possibilities.
However, for all its bravado and beauty, metal tends to be superficially weak and is generally available in but a single color. Thus, in order to be both functional and pleasing to the eye, metal must be coated with a unique finish which beautifies with color and resists any chalking, pitting, chipping, or premature aging.

Kynar Aquatec® architectural coatings provide the same long-lasting properties as Kynar 500® FSF® in an easy-to-apply latex. Water-based, liquid coatings formulated with Kynar Aquatec® latices can be easily applied to metals, PVC, textiles and elastomers. It also delivers the durability and performance our customers have come to expect from traditional PVDF coatings. Kynar Aquatec®
latex coatings have numerous benefits, including superb cool roofing properties that reduce energy use and keep roofs significantly cooler than uncoated surfaces. Kynar Aquatec® coatings are extremely durable in even the harshest weather conditions and resist both dirt accumulation and mildew or mold growth.
Cool roofs are made from materials that effectively reflect the sun's energy
from the roof surface and allow the roof to quickly shed (or emit) heat energy. Cool roofs have a combination of high reflectivity and high emissivity that reduce roof surface temperatures by up to 100ºF, thereby reducing the heat transferred to the building's interior. This helps reduce energy costs (by keeping attics and ducts cooler), improves occupant comfort, cuts maintenance costs, prolongs the roof's service life, and reduces urban heat islands along with associated smog.
Kynar Aquatec® emulsion-based coatings provide the high reflectivity and emissivity that can turn your roof into a cool roof and meet California's Title 24 Energy Efficiency Building Standards.
Kynar Aquatec® coatings resist dirt and grime accumulation. They also resist biological growth, even in conditions that are the most prone to harbor mold, mildew and unwanted biological growths. Coatings based on Kynar Aquatec®
emulsions pick up very little dirt. This resistance is important for all colors, but none more so than white. Roofing coated with Kynar Aquatec® emulsions can achieve total solar reflectance values greater than 0.80 and retain those high values for many years.
Over time, sunlight, air and water will break down almost all construction materials. Kynar®
PVDF resin is known for excellent performance under severe conditions. Similarly, Kynar Aquatec®-based coatings will withstand extended exposures to water, humidity, a wide range of temperatures, ultraviolet rays, oxygen, and atmospheric pollutants.
Natural elements, such as sunlight, water, wind, and air, drastically break down coatings over time. The heart of the Kynar Aquatec® emulsion technology is the
carbon-fluorine (C-F) bond. The C-F bond is one of the strongest bonds known and it is the basis for the extreme weatherability of Kynar Aquatec® emulsion based coatings.

Kynar Aquatec® emulsion-based coating formulations provide good adhesion to substrates previously coated withKynar 500® resin and other metal coatings. These formulations enable in-field metal touchup, repair and color changes. The photo below shows a restored roof surface.
Coatings based on Kynar Aquatec® have excellent water repellency and prevent water from penetrating the surface. Even after 200 hours of immersion, the Kynar Aquatec® coating shows minimal water pick-up. Kynar Aquatec® emulsion-based coatings have excellent substrate adhesion and resist delamination and water damage.
Kynar Aquatec® based coatings are excellent at preventing water from penetrating the surface. Even after 200 hours of immersion, a coating based on this technology shows minimal water pick-up at 2% by weight versus an acrylic coating that can pick up more than 13%. The result of low water pick-up is excellent adhesion of the coating to the surface and reduced maintenance cost related to delamination and water damage.
Kynar Aquatec® PVDF emulsion-based coatings also resist biological growth, even in conditions that are the most prone to harbor mold, mildew and unwanted biological growths.
Mold and mildew have great difficulty gaining a foothold on Kynar®
PVDF coatings. Likewise, Kynar Aquatec®emulsion-based coatings tend
not to support biological growth, even in harsh, humid, mildew-prone areas. This has been shown through painted panel exposure tests in Florida, case studies from around the world for materials made with Kynar® resins, and materials studies on the Kynar® resins themselves.
KYNAR Aquatec® latexes are waterborne polymer dispersions (latexes) which enable the production of highly weatherable waterborne, air-dry paints and coatings based on KYNAR® PVDF resins, while enabling the formulator to meet regulated volatile organic compounds (VOC) levels.
