Railing System Products

The Hollaender Manufacturing Company produces a wide array of architectural hand railing systems, from non-welded aluminum rails to stainless steel structural glass. Our recognized railing designs include Interna-Rail®, Speed-Rail® and Newman by Hollaender™ (formerly known as Newman Brothers Railing).

These hand and guard railing systems meet the IBC and ADA codes. The Hollaender engineering staff can provide delegated design services to demonstrate our compliance, if needed.


are available in a wide variety of materials, all of which have been tested to meet the IBC code. We offer tempered glass in both monolithic and laminated, along with resin panels in both PETG and acrylic. Metal panels can be supplied in mesh, perforated or a more exotic pattern. Material for these metal panels range from aluminum to e-coated steel to stainless steel.

Finishes are available for our hand rails in a wide range of different patterns, colors and textures. Aluminum systems can be anodized with clear and bronze options, or powder coated in almost any color imaginable for your job requirement. Our steel infill panels are produced in the same wide array of colors, but are first e-coated to protect against corrosion. Our stainless steel rail systems look great with a direction or circular brush, and panels can also be supplied in a bright dip.

Newman by Hollaender™ Structural Glass Railing

Newman by Hollaender™ (formerly Newman Brothers Railing) Structural Glass railing is an all stainless steel system. The structural glass railing has an extruded aluminum shoe that is encased with cladding that can be either stainless steel or aluminum. Top caps or rails are available in round and U-channel forms in materials and finishes that match the cladding as well as the assist rail. Wood is a popular option.

Newman by Hollaender™ Button Glass Railing

Newman by Hollaender™ Button Glass Railing is an engineered railing system designed for side mounting to adequate structural mounting surface giving the impression of a “glass wall".

The glass railing, typically 42 inches high above the walking surface, is point or button mounted to stringer on level or stairs. Since the actual height of the glass above the button mounts is in the order of 48 to 52 inches, the glass must be structurally sound enough to meet code and be “comfortably safe". Due to the height, glass is either 3/4" thick in monolithic or 13/16" thick in either PVB or SGP laminated.

Smoke baffles can be mounted directly to the ceiling or may be concealed behind the ceiling. In either case, installation is easy and cladding can be selected to match the surrounding aesthetic.

Our smoke baffles are engineered to meet the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) standard for installation of sprinkler systems (Chapter 13) as well as IBC 2012/712.1.3.1 Fire and Smoke Protection Features.

Glass Railing System - Interna-Rail® VUE

Interna-Rail® VUE is a post mounted glass railing system where the glass is captured at the posts, emphasizing maximum transparency and low cost.

  • Attractive appearance at a low installed price. The standard clear anodized finish provides an aesthetic appearance that is close to that of stainless steel, at approximately 1/2 the cost
  • Maximum flexibility - glass can be mounted on the walking surface side or away from the walking surface. A variety of acrylic resin panels can also be used.
  • Optional finishes: clear anodized aluminum, dark bronze anodized aluminum, powder coat to AAMA 2604 specification or Kynar®
  • Infill Panel Options:
      o 3/8" thick tempered glass or other glass finishes

Glass Railing Systems - Interna-Rail® KLEAR

Hollaender's Interna-Rail® Klear railing for glass offers what architects and owners another option when specifying or designing glass railing systems:
  • Transparency
  • Visibility

This system uses the glass infill up to 42 inch height requirement and does not have a top cap on the glass. - the glass is captured at the post, not top and bottom - minimizes the amount of horizontal rails in the system, thus maximizing visibility.

Posts are attached with a grabrail or handrail at 36 inches above the walking surface on level, ramp, and stair railings.

The result - while maintaining structural integrity, this glass railing with no top cap provides more visibility than competitive railing systems.

Hollaender's Interna-Rail® VUE railing in stainless steel for glass and acrylic infill panels offers what architects and owners the two most desirable features:

The VUE stainless steel handrail system is a post mounted glass system where the glass panels are held at the posts, not the top and bottom rails. This minimizes the number of horizontal rails in the system which maximizes visibility.

VISION SS Railing image


VISION railing is a stainless steel railing system with “in-line" panel clips that support the infill panel available in 304 SS (standard) or 316 SS (optional).
Although the standard infill is glass, metal infills in stainless steel are available in wire mesh and perforated designs, with 304 SS as standard or 316 as an option. Acrylic and other custom infill materials are also available.

Our stainless steel ADA compliant handrail systems are fabricated from either 304 SS (standard) or 316 SS which is ideal for highly corrosive environments such as natatoriums, coastal areas, etc. With all connections and transitions ground and polished to show a smooth, seamless surface, this railing is at the height of architectural design.

Welded Wire Mesh

Welded wire mesh infill panels are constructed from .120 inch diameter steel wire and every second wire is welded within the steel hem. Hems are constructed from 14 gauge steel. Three holes are drilled in the bottom hem to prevent water buildup.

Perforated Infill Panels

These panels are available for level or raked (stair) applications and are manufactured using a hem or U channel. All panels are 14 gauge steel, held within a 14 gauge steel hem. To prevent any water buildup, 3 holes are drilled in the bottom hem.

Slotted & Decorated Patterns

Handrail systems with slotted hole pattern infill will cost 25-35% more per linear foot than standard infill. Decorative hole patterns cost approximately 35-40% more per linear foot than standard round or square patterns, and require special order. All patterns are in carbon steel, e-coated and powder coated.

Picket System

Hollaender's® component picket system uses mechanical connectors that are specially machined to attach pickets to top and bottom rails. These connectors prevent any turning or slippage of the pickets (a common problem) and have the usual advantage of mechanical systems in having no welding marks. When used with Speed-Rail® or Interna-Rail® frames, this is a very cost effective yet aesthetically pleasing solution. Pickets are 3/4" Schedule 10, and railing is available in mill finish aluminum, anodized, or TGIC Polyester powder coat.

Clear Anodized Coating

Hollaender's® standard finishes for fittings and pipe are architectural mill finish and clear anodized aluminum. Our clear anodized coating is specified as M10C22A41. It is architectural class with a nominal thickness of .7 mil.

Mill Finish Powdercoat

Powdercoat colors are available in a wide variety of colors with the standard being TGIC Polyester, a highly weather resistant and durable coating. Depending on the color requirement, TGIC Polyester products that are compliant with either AAMA 2603 or 2604 may also be available.
