Single-layer, Staycell ONE STEP® 255 (Monolithic System)

Staycell ONE STEP® 255 is an intumescent, closed-cell, spray polyurethane foam typically specified up to a two-inch thickness for air sealing and insulating walls, metal siding, structural steel and the underside of roofs and concrete slabs.


This product has Class A flame spread and smoke development ratings and is qualified as an AlternativeThermal Barrier Assembly when installed exposed without gypsum board or other fire-protective coverings in accordance with QAI Evaluation Report No. B1020-1, Edition 6.

Two-layer, Staycell® 265 / Staycell ONE STEP® (Hybrid System)

The Hybrid System consists of two separate layers of closed-cell foam: Staycell® 265 as the base layer covered with Staycell ONE STEP® 255 intumescent foam as the exposed surface layer. It is typically specified at greater than a two-inch thickness for insulating walls, metal siding and the underside of roofs and concrete slabs.


This System has Class A flame spread and smoke development ratings and is qualified as an Alternative Thermal Barrier Assembly when installed exposed without gypsum board or other fire-protective coverings in accordance with QAI Evaluation Report No. B1020-1, Edition 6.

Staycell® 265 Spray Foam Insulation

Staycell® 265 is a closed-cell, spray polyurethane foam having a Class A flame spread and smoke development rating that is code-compliant when fire protected with gypsum board or qualified as an Alternative Thermal Barrier Assembly when covered with Staycell ONE STEP® 255 spray foam insulation or No-Burn Plus ThB intumescent paint in accordance with product listings.


Staycell® 265 is typically specified for air sealing and to insulate walls, metal siding and the underside of roofs and concrete slabs.

Properly insulating metal roofs in cold climates and specialized uses such as gymnasiums, swimming pools and cold storage facilities with fiberglass insulation can be challenging. Over time, moisture penetrates through the seams and failed vapor retarder, condensing on the underside of the roof. This results in poor energy performance and long-term degradation of the roof structure.

The Scarsdale High School renovation was part of the district's school-wide energy efficiency initiative to improve building performance and reduce energy consumption. In addition to upgrades made to the lighting and HVAC equipment, detailed building envelope analysis identified significant heat loss thru uninsulated concrete roof panels and air leakage at the roof/wall transition. To control air leakage and insulate the roof panels, Staycell ONE STEP® 255 intumescent spray foam insulation was applied 2" thick to the sloped portions of the roof sealed to the top of the masonry wall.

The Block 38 mixed-use building combines retail, parking and housing into the first high-rise structure built in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska in over 20 years. At 10 stories, the building provides nearly 20,000 SF of retail space on the first level, 650 parking spaces on levels two through seven, and 50 residential units on levels eight through ten.

The Packer Hall Gymnasium renovation was part of a campus-wide energy efficiency initiative to improve building performance and reduce energy consumption. The most significant problem with the building related to student safety caused by condensation dripping from the roof structure onto the gymnasium floor. The standing seam metal roof deck was originally insulated with R-30 vinyl-faced fiberglass blanket. Over time the fiberglass lost most of its thermal efficiency from saturation caused by condensation trapped between the metal deck and the insulation's vinyl facer. At the purlins condensation resulted from compression of the fiberglass (resulting in low R-value) between the roof deck and purlin. The application consisted of fiberglass removal and replacement with the R-30 Staycell® HYBRID System, which consists of 4" Staycell® 265 covered with 1/2" Staycell ONE STEP® 255 intumescent spray foam insulation. Finally, the system was top coated white with Sherwin Williams “Fast-Clad" acrylic latex paint. The HYBRID System was chosen because it was more cost-effective than a standard foam and intumescent coating system.
