Sustainability is a growing focus in aviation, and hangar door materials play a crucial role in minimizing environmental impact. Choosing the right materials enhances durability and functionality while supporting eco-friendly practices. Traditional Materials and Their Environmental Footprint Historically, steel has been the primary material for hangar doors due to its strength and longevity. However, steel production is energy-intensive and generates significant CO₂ emissions. Aluminum as a Sustainable Alternative: Aluminum requires less energy to produce compared to steel. It generates fewer CO₂ emissions than steel hangars. It is lightweight, reducing structural load and transportation emissions.
