Auxiliary Drains (also called Low-Point Drains or Drum Drips) are required for each section of trapped pipe in a Dry or Pre-Action Fire Protection System. They collect the moisture that condensates from the pressurized air in the system while minimizing loss of air pressure during maintenance (see NFPA 13, 220.127.116.11.3.5*, A18.104.22.168.3.5).
Dry and Pre-Action Fire Protection Systems need to be maintained by emptying the auxiliary drains that collect water. Sprinkler system repairs can cost $5,000 to $10,000 or more every time an auxiliary drain fails, is vandalized, or is improperly maintained. AGF Manufacturing's COLLECTanDRAIN® Auxliary Drain upgrades prevent system trips from improper maintenance or vandalism and, with regular maintenance, help prevent system breakdowns as a result of freeze-ups.
AGF Residential and Commercial RiserPACK Floor Control assemblies cut the cost of buying and assembling the individual parts of a sectional floor control, reduce the space used by sectional floor controls by up to 75%, and are installed in a fraction of the time. RiserPACK Floor Control assemblies offer the ultimate in convenience, versatility, and reliability. The Model 8000 RiserPACK Floor assembly includes a pressure gauge, water flow switch, InspectorsTEST, and drain valve. 8011 models include a pressure relief valve. RiserPACK Floor Control assemblies meet the requirements of NFPA 13D, NFPA 13R, and NFPA 13 for wet fire sprinkler systems, and can be assembled with additional features to meet custom specifications.
The CORRinSITE is a corrosion monitor manufactured from the same mild carbon steel as the system's piping so it's surface corrodes as the pipe corrodes. When the monitor corrodes beyond it's limit, moisture penetrates the sealed chamber and transforms the brilliant white sight glass to a fluorescent orange color indicating a corrosion problem and a need for further pipe inspection.
The CORRinSITE was developed in response to the increase of corrosion related failures in both wet and dry fire protection systems. CORRinSITE, available in an in-line pipe and mechanical tee, provides a simple to install, maintenance-free, and inexpensive method to monitor for hidden corrosion problems in any fire protection system.
TESTanSAVE is a water containment system for fire sprinkler systems that recirculates the test water through the system during testing instead of discharging the test water to the outside.
For a sprinkler system to work effectively it needs to be tested regularly and each sprinkler system test requires regular water use. Usually, test water is released outside of the building wasting numerous gallons of water each test cycle. In this age of water conservation AGF offers an alternative.
TESTanSAVE recirculates the sprinkler system test water back through the supply riser eliminating the need to reintroduce new water into the sprinkler system during testing. Its three step process is simple. First, water is brought in to perform the inspector's test on the first floor. Next, instead of water being drained to the outside, test water is recirculated into the system through the TESTanSAVE. Then, the recirculated water is used to perform the inspector's test on all of the additional floors.
NFPA 13 (2016)
7.1.5 Air Venting
A single air vent with a connection conforming to 8.16.6 shall be provided on each wet pipe system utilizing metallic pipe.
8.16.6* Air Venting
The vent required by 7.1.5 shall be located near a high point in the system to allow air to be removed from that portion of the system by one of the following methods:
