Corrosion Resistant Coatings

Since 1974, Stainless Steel Coatings takes pride in serving the architectural industry with the STEEL-IT Polyurethane System, an anti-corrosive coating system that protects structural steel while still expressing its beauty.

Formulated with highly concentrated custom-engineered 316L stainless steel micro-flake, the STEEL-IT brand of industry-leading coatings provides superior corrosion protection while showing a beautiful and modern burnished stainless steel finish, allowing the architect's aesthetic to shine through where structural steel features are visible.

STEEL-IT Coatings Ward Off Corrosion Worldwide
For over 40 years, STEEL-IT brand coatings have been used in a multitude of applications across diverse industries to provide superior protection against corrosion, chemicals, abrasion, temperature cycling, weathering, and other harsh conditions where many other coatings fail.

STEEL-IT achieves its superior level of performance by embedding custom- engineered 316L stainless steel micro-flakes in various resins including polyurethane, epoxy, and silicone depending on the formulation, and combining these with additional anti-corrosive elements. Although the individual flakes are indiscernible to the naked eye, under a microscope, STEEL-IT coatings show a neat horizontal layered alignment of tightly overlapping, pure 316L flakes that form a metallic barrier film near the coating's surface. This stainless steel shield makes materials coated with STEEL-IT nearly impervious to corrosion and corrosive elements while providing a durable finish that resists scratching, flaking, and other damage even under the most challenging conditions.

Innovation, Diversity, Compliance
Our coatings are innovative chemical solutions based on proprietary formulas that feature a unique leafing stainless steel pigment. Our most popular coating products include Polyurethane and Epoxy systems. We care a great deal about ecological issues and created our High Solids Epoxy System, which honors many vigorous legislative regulations. Stainless Steel Coatings, Inc. is constantly working to ensure that every last gallon of stainless steel anti-corrosive coating that we produce meets or exceeds our customers' highest expectations.

Polyurethane Coating System image

Polyurethane Coating System

The STEEL-IT Polyurethane Coating System provides optimum weather-, abrasion-,and corrosion-resistance for indoor and outdoor architectural and general maintenance applications. Ideal for protecting structural steel and other metals, the easy to apply system yields a hard, non-toxic, metallic finish that adheres aggressively to protect a variety of surfaces from a multitude of harsh conditions, including UV exposure, weathering, salt spray, and abrasion.

The STEEL-IT Polyurethane System consists of STEEL-IT 2203 Alkyd Primer and STEEL-IT 1002 Polyurethane Topcoat. These single component coatings require no complicated mixing. Applied from the can after sufficient power-agitation, the STEEL-IT Polyurethane System air-cures and does not require baking or heating.

STEEL-IT 2203 Alkyd Primer combines a modified alkyd resin, selected silicates, and iron oxides with 316L stainless steel micro-flakes to produce a long-lasting primer for structural steel and other metals requiring high performance rust-inhibiting qualities. STEEL-IT 1002 Polyurethane Topcoat blends the 316L stainless steel leafing pigment with a polyurethane resin to produce a rugged, non-toxic, metallic finish.Z

STEEL-IT 2203 Alkyd Primer and 1002 Polyurethane Topcoat are packaged in quarts and gallons. STEEL-IT 1002 Polyurethane Topcoat is also available in handy 14 ounce aerosols (1002B) for easy touch-ups and small jobs. Conventional or airless spraying is the preferred application method.

Epoxy Coating System image

Epoxy Coating System

The STEEL-IT Epoxy Coating System, consists of STEEL-IT 4210 Epoxy Primer and 4907 Epoxy Finish. The Epoxy System is extremely durable, offering outstanding corrosion-, abrasion-, and chemical-resistance and withstanding daily high-pressure washdowns and cleanings with harsh detergents without chipping or flaking.

STEEL-IT 4210 Epoxy Primer and 4907 Epoxy Finish are both two-part epoxy compositions that feature our signature custom-engineered 316L stainless steel leafing pigment. This catalyzed system creates a hard, non-toxic, metallic finish that safeguards metal from harsh, destructive conditions where other coatings fail.

Each product is sold as a kit consisting of a Part A and a Part B, which are mixed in a 1:1 ratio to produce a coating ready to be applied. Available in 2-quart kits and 2-gallon kits. Conventional spray equipment is the preferred method of application.

High Solids Stainless Steel Coatings image

High Solids Stainless Steel Coatings

The STEEL-IT High Solids Epoxy System is a high-performance, two-coat barrier coating system that complies with most environmental regulations while maintaining the same high-performance profile and superior application characteristics associated with more traditional STEEL-IT compositions. The system has VOC levels below most current regulated thresholds.

The STEEL-IT High Solids Epoxy System, consisting of STEEL-IT 4220 High Solids Epoxy Primer and 4908 High Solids Epoxy Finish, is our hardest coating system. Denser than our regular epoxy formula, the High Solids Epoxy System is the most chemical- and abrasion-resistant, and performs the best in harsh environments. An added benefit of using a High Solids coating is that its coverage is significantly greater than the STEEL-IT Epoxy System. Each square foot costs much less to coat and thus is more economical.

The STEEL-IT High Solids Epoxy System is highly durable and resistant to the corrosive effects of spilled solvents, solvent fumes, alkalis and many dilute organic and inorganic acids.

The system consists of a high solids barrier primer and a high solids finish. Available in 2-gallon kits or 2-quart kits, both the primer and finish are user-friendly coatings with excellent wetting characteristics and long pot life. Conventional spraying is the preferred method of application.

Food Processing and Packaging Industry Applications image

Food Processing and Packaging Industry Applications

All STEEL-IT brand coatings are non-toxic, USDA compliant with instances of incidental food contact, and therefore have been a leading choice for decades for use on food and beverage processing equipment.

"Incidental food contact" means that STEEL-IT coatings are used on the outside of machines, equipment, conveyers, substructures, racks, and anywhere else where there is no direct contact with food or liquids meant for consumption.

For forty years, STEEL-IT has been a leading brand in the Food Processing and Packaging Equipment Industry, where STEEL-IT is specified by Hershey's Chocolate, Pepsi-Co, General Mills, Kellogg's, Tyson Chicken, and hundreds more food manufacturers to maximize equipment life.
