Founded in 2013, Indoor Sky operates out of Williamsport, Pennsylvania (home of the Little League World Series) and is proud to provide products “Made in America"!
The company is dedicated to maximizing the benefit of daylight, the ultimate sustainable resource, in the built environment. Each and every one of Indoor Sky's products are designed to expand glare-free daylight zones and solve the conflict between shading and daylighting.
By introducing the single most significant innovation in the window shade industry since the invention of the roller shade, Indoor Sky is committed to enhancing design through the use of daylight. The key driver of our mission is collaboration with the design community to continue to change the interior daylighting landscape.
A single operable lightshelf that may be configured to suit either the clerestory dimensions or the height of the window head. Depths from 10 inches to 22 inches with larger sizes possible (consult factory) and widths up to 96 inches. The new design includes the EZ Clean feature that allows the lightshelf to be easily rotated down for cleaning. Now available with optional worm drive.
A single operable lightshelf configured as above (S Series) but with a worm drive operated by a removable folding crank. The lightshelf may be “parked" at any angle for full daylight control.
Shade configurations are available partially or fully motorized. The lightshelf element is driven by a low-voltage DC motor which is matched in the roller shade for full synchronization. This allows the Dayliter Shade to be incorporated into any Building Automation System or to have numerous individual control options including Smart phone apps.
Multiple lightshelves (stack) designed for tall windows, large clerestories or simply to add a stunning design feature. Depths from 10 inches to 16 inches with larger sizes possible (consult factory) and widths up to 72 inches. Lightshelves may be operated individually or in unison.
Dual roller shades allow for both room darkening and solar shading with views. Room darkening is particularly important for healthcare applications where daytime patient recovery is crucial. The same feature allows for nighttime security - preventing individuals outside from seeing into the space.
For spaces with exceptionally high ceilings, such as lobbies, the lightshelves may not need to be operable and can therefore be engineered for larger individual sizes.
Designed for large expanses of exposed sloping glass the Skyliter System features independent operable light shelves and/or ceiling panels. Daylight is bounced between the lightshelves, even as the space is shaded, to prevent major heat gain. Also available for simple skylight solar management.
Sunshade fabrics of every type and from most manufacturers are available for use in the Dayliter and Skyliter Shading Systems allowing for total flexibility from both a design and functionality standpoint.
Our “standard" fabric selection is the Alkenz 3000 HT Series from Rollease Acmeda and we recommend 3% openness for most applications. For PVC-free fabric requirements we offer several options including Green Screen Revive from Mermet and Infinity 2 from Phifer. For “high performance" applications such as high solar heat gain we recommend Omniascreen from Rollease Acmeda.
Designed to create glare-free spaces, the interior daylighting & shading system from Indoor Sky totally transforms this office at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
The system, featuring operable fabric lightshelves and integral roller shade, delivers superb light quality by distributing diffused daylight evenly within the space.
STUDIO RENOVATION DESIGNED FOR ULTIMATE DAYLIGHTING.
The 22 foot high open beam ceiling in this refurbished studio, complete with diffused skylight, demanded a window treatment that could anchor the space aesthetically.
Each large window showcases a Dayliter Shade with triple, operable lightshelf to take advantage of the ever changing daylight. The southern tree lined facade creates shadows that play on the shades in the breeze. “We love these shades and so does everyone who comes in here," expounded Paul Hutton managing partner.
Shades may be manually operated or fully automated.
BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO A LOCAL LANDMARK.
This iconic building in the center of town was in need of renovation. As sustainable design consultants, the owners The Stone House Group were keen to employ good daylighting techniques and selected a custom made Dayliter Shading System to suit the tall narrow windows.
Rather than select a “stack" of lightshelves the designer elected to go with a single 36" shelf but needed it to be operable. Using a new worm gear operating system, Indoor Sky were able to produce both the functionality and aesthetics that the project required. Motorized roller shades driven by a PV panel completed the system saving the owner significant money by not having to run electrical service to each window head through dense engineering brick.
FROM TREE HOUSE TO CORPORATE BOARDROOM
This naked glass facade once housed a tree growing up through the floor but when the tree was removed the space was unusable due to heat gain and glare. Indoor Sky was asked to develop a solution that would allow control of both temperature and daylight and allow the space to be used as a corporate boardroom.
The solution features (54) motorized fabric lightshelves operating in (3) separate zones and a fixed canopy at the apex facilitating full control of the changing daylight conditions throughout the day.
RENOVATION OF A 95 YEAR OLD RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVE SHED
The versatility of the Dayliter Shading System on this project is unparalleled - featuring single and double lightshelf assemblies from 9 to 21 inches deep and fabric with 5% openness factor for excellent visibility and optimal shading.
Double lightshelves used on the East & West elevations may be rotated to cut off early morning and late afternoon sun.
The single lightshelves on the North elevation are sized to bring in maximum daylight with minimal glare.
Shades may be manually operated or fully automated.

Daylight impacts human health and performance by kick-starting the body's circadian system, affecting mood and perception, and by enabling critical chemical reactions in the body. Patients in rooms with good daylight require up to 25% shorter stays and 25% less pain medication.
erlin Hospital in Nevada the glare-free daylight provided by the Dayliter Shade helped create a warm, hospitable environment encouraging speedy recovery. The product's flexibility allowed for the lightshelf to be reduced in size to suit the relatively low window head without impacting the daylight and still meet code requirements.
