Green Roof Systems
Hydrotech's Garden Roof® Assemblies combine the proven performance of our Monolithic Membrane 6125® roofing/waterproofing with proven green technology.
North America's leading pioneer and innovator in green roof technology, Hydrotech offers a full range of assemblies and systems to meet your specific garden roof vision and requirement. Whether a lush lawn roof or a roof filled with diverse plants, shrubs, and trees, Hydrotech has your solution.
Unlike conventional earth-covered structures, Garden Roof Assemblies are lightweight and can be installed on a wide variety of new and existing structures. Replacing the impervious surface of a conventional roof with a green roof can help to substantially reduce stormwaterrun-off and restore the balance with nature in our urban centers.
As our cities continue to grow, the natural landscape is being replaced with buildings, as well as parking lots and roadways of concrete and asphalt. Open green spaces within city centers are decreasing as the strong demand for land to build upon increases. Temperature increases of 3-10°F have been observed in city centers when compared to temperatures in outlying areas where Mother Nature is part of the natural surroundings.
Monolithic Membrane 6125® (MM6125®) is a thick, tough, flexible, self-healing membrane for use in waterproofing. MM6125 is a special formulation of refined asphalts and synthetic rubbers. MM6125, the original hot fluid-applied rubberized asphalt membrane, has been successfully used worldwide by leading architects, engineers and owners on all types of horizontal and vertical structures including plazas, parking decks, planters, tunnels, bridges, mud slabs, foundation walls and roof areas...establishing an unbeatable track record of 60 years.
With a Hydrotech Protected Membrane Roof (PMR), your roof membrane is protected for the life of your building. Hydrotech PMR assemblies employ the right materials, in the right order, to produce a highly energy-efficient roof that lasts more than three times the lifespan of an average unprotected membrane roof.
Benefits
Advantages of the PMR Assembly...
In conventional roofing the exposed membrane can be easily damaged by physical abuse. Abuse caused by other trades, during construction, or after from maintenance to roof top HVAC units...or the occasional arrow shot in the air! Obviously, in a PMR assembly, the insulation and ballast layer on top of the membrane helps to protect it from physical abuse.
Mother nature can be brutal too! From large temperature swings from day to night, freeze-thaw cycling, UV and ozone.
A study done by the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers in the 1970's showed that on a PMR installation in Alaska, the roof membrane stayed within 15 °F of the deck temperature... year round.
The Ultimate Assembly® - Hydrotech's open joint architectural paver assembly, with a single-source warranty.
Ideal for roof terraces, vegetated roofs and plazas, The Ultimate Assembly begins at the substrate with Hydrotech's premier waterproofing membrane, Monolithic Membrane 6125®, and carries through to the overburden of the architectural pavers. Hydrotech's architectural pavers offer high compressive strength, low moisture absorption, and a wide variety of colors and textures.
Benefits
Unlike sand or mortar setting bed installations, the architectural pavers are installed in an open joint assembly, supported at the four corners on spacer tabs or pedestals. This method of installation provides many distinct advantages...
Open Joint System - open joints facilitate the flow of water below the paver surface to concealed drains, while also eliminating ponding water and trapped moisture.
Access to Substructure - drains and all assembly components are easily accessible. If the need should arise, pavers can simply be lifted and reset in place so maintenance and future alterations are easily accomplished.
Installation Flexibility - pavers are set directly on spacer tabs or adjustable pedestals to an established grade and even leveled where a sloped deck exists, a simple, durable solution.

Mechanically Attached PVC Roofing Systems
Unlike adhered roofing systems where the membrane is secured to the system using adhesive, the Sarnafast system secures the membrane using fasteners within the membrane seam overlap. Typically called an “in-seam" attachment system, after the plates and screws secure the edge of the membrane, the next sheet overlaps the fasteners and is made watertight by hot-air welding the seam. Unlike typical in-seam systems, Sarnafast uses a specially designed oblong shaped discs, “Sarnadisc XPN" instead of a standard circle plate for increased performance.
This type of system is considered one of the fastest most cost effective ways to install a single-ply roof. Below are some of the reasons why a Sikaplan fastened roofing system might be the best fit for your project.
Mechanically-Fastened System Benefits:
Cost-competitive
Fast and easy installation
Best for low slope applications

Sarnafil membrane performance
Unlike adhered roofing systems where the membrane is secured to the system using adhesive, mechanically-attached roofing systems secure the membrane to the system using fasteners. The Engineered System utilizes the Sarnafil S 327 roof membrane, designed specifically for mechanically-attached applications, and the galvanized steel bar,“Sarnabar", covered with a membrane cover strip.
Unlike the Sarnafast System where the fasteners are along the membrane seam (in-seam), the Sarnabar and cover strip can be placed anywhere on top of the membrane depending on the designers specifications (out of seam). This provides design flexibility and protection against wind that no other roofing system in the industry is capable of. It is guaranteed to meet and exceed even the toughest of design criteria.
Below are some of the reasons why the Engineered System might be the best fit for your project.

Roof refurbishment is increasingly more important in today's construction world as a sustainable way of extending an existing roof's lifespan. Buildings are typically built with a design that is intended to have a 50-year life. The roofs on the buildings will most likely need maintenance or refurbishment at certain stages throughout this lifetime to ensure continuous protection against water ingress and other climate-related exposures. One of the biggest advantages of liquid applied membranes is that the existing roof does not need to be torn off to be revived.
Sika liquid applied membranes are applied directly over the existing roof surface or to the structural deck. An inspection to ensure the substrate's integrity, a proper cleaning and appropriate primer and the roof can be given a new life with a warranty. The choice is yours to use any of the Sikalastic single-component or two-component systems.
System Benefits:
