Smartly designed with unmatched curb appeal, the patented* Eclipse Metal Roof System is strong and weathertight for new construction or re-roofing projects.

For the first time ever, you'll benefit from a metal roof system that combines the structural integrity of a through-fastened roof with the sleek appearance of a standing seam metal roof. All at a lower cost than a standing seam metal roof cost.

*U.S. Patent No. 9,127,451 B1 | Canadian Patent No. 2,901,202

STRONG.
  • The unique patented rib and snap-on batten system allows through-fastening of 36" wide panels.
  • Through-fastened panels provide diaphragm strength not available with a standing seam roof.
  • The shape and height of the major rib give the Eclipse Roof System panel superior strength.

SLEEK. NO LEAKS.
  • The attractive roof batten snaps over the ribs, concealing the panel fasteners, creating bold clean lines.
  • The batten conceals the metal roof fasteners making it weathertight roofing.

EXCEPTIONAL VALUE.
  • Our patented 36" wide Eclipse Roof System panel installs more quickly and easily than the typical standing seam metal roofing panel.
  • The Eclipse Roof System requires 1/3 to 1/2 the number of metal roofing panels and fewer metal fasteners than the typical standing seam roofing system.
  • The 26 gauge Eclipse Roof System panel can be installed over open purlins. No roof deck is required, saving metal roofing material and metal roof installation costs.

METAL PANEL SPECIFICATIONS
  • 26 Gauge panel applies over open framing; roof deck not required
  • 28 Gauge panel; roof deck recommended

A strong building begins with a strong foundation. The weight of the typical post-frame building is often not sufficient to resist uplift forces caused by lateral loads or wind. Lester Buildings are anchored to either the foundation or directly to the soil to provide the required uplift capacity.

Lester Buildings has three foundation systems:
  • 1. Posts anchored below grade; clear-span truss roof
  • 2. Posts anchored to foundation
  • 3. Posts anchored below grade; rafter style roof

Foundation System 1:
Columns are embedded into the ground; clear-span truss roof

Precast Concrete Footings
Factory-made precast concrete footings are set in the ground on top of tamped soil to provide a barrier against soil moisture and settling. The 17-inch wide x 4-inch high footing helps to displace the building load traveling through the column. Pre-cast footings allow for faster construction and immediate load bearing.

Anchor Blocks
Blocks of wood are nailed and glued to the sides of the column at the factory. These blocks act as an anchor by creating a resistance to soil and preventing the column from being pulled out of the ground by uplift forces.

Concrete Collar Concrete Collar Foundation
In higher load situations, concrete collars are added on top of the precast footing for maximum pullout capacity. The collar is formed by backfilling the column hole with concrete after the column is set on the precast footing. Steel reinforcing bar(s) are used to pin the column to the concrete collar.

Foundation System 2:

Columns are bolted to a concrete foundation above ground; clear span trusses.

This is an alternative option for those who don't like embedded columns and/or splash plank.

Profile / Shape
We roll form our Uni-Rib steel panels in our Illinois plant. The tried-and-true design of the panel is exclusive to Lester Buildings. A.-XX__'__XX-.A,A,A"RibsA.-XX__'__XX-.A,A,A" (or bends) are added to increase panel strength. The combination of the number of ribs, rib height, and bend sharpness determines the strength.

Thickness
Measured in gauge (ga) units; the smaller the gauge, the thicker the panel. Lester Buildings offers 29-gauge and 26-gauge steel as standard products.

Tensile Yield Strength
Measured in pounds-force per square inch (psi); the higher the number, the stronger the panel -- and less prone to dents and fastener tears. Lester uses Grade E steel coil, which features minimum 80,000 psi tensile yield strength.

Protective Coatings
Measured in number of ounces of zinc per square foot; the higher the number, the less corrosion. The Uni-Rib steel panel uses a galvanization process that adds a layer of corrosion protection to both sides of the panel. It also provides good paint adhesion and scratch resistance. G60 galvanizing is standard for most applications. G90 galvanizing is used in environments with high moisture and caustic gasses, such as livestock buildings.

Paint Systems
Unlike other companies, Lester offers two choices of paint systems. Each comes with an outstanding warranty and provides extra protection against harsh environmental elements such as ultra-violet rays, acidic rain, humidity and normal handling/wear and tear.

A majority of the colors meet Energy Star's "Cool Roof" reflectivity standards.

Siliconized Polyester, sold under Valspar's WeatherX brand, is standard on all exterior panels and provides an excellent value. Available in 18 colors.

Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), sold under Valspar's Fluropon brand, is a premium option for increased fade protection. (The well-known Kynar paint brand is also made by Valspar and has the equivalent properties to Fluropon.) Available in 20 colors.
