          PART 3EXECUTION

          3.1PREPARATION

A.Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.
1.Verify that TFIFRM material to be installed is within manufacturer's specified shelf life.
2.Conduct tests according to manufacturer's written recommendations to verify that substrates are free of oil, grease, rolling compounds, incompatible primers, loose mill scale, dirt and other foreign substances capable of impairing bond of intumescent TFIFRM material. Ensure that substrate is frost-free.
3.Verify equipment, ensure minimum pump requirements and tip size (0.7 GPM, 3000 psi, 1.7 hp, 0.015 inch - 0.021 inch tip).
4.Verify that environmental conditions are safe and suitable for installation of intumescent TFIFRM.

B.Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
1.Verify that structural steel to be fireproofed with intumescent TFIFRM is free from rust and has been primed with a compatible primer.
2.Verify that adjoining surfaces and floors have been masked, tarped or otherwise protected. Install masking and temporary coverings as required to prevent contamination or defacement of adjacent surfaces due to intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing installation.

C.If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.

          3.2INSTALLATION

A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions and procedural recommendations.
1.Install intumescent TFIFRM per systems listed for the specific combination of fire rating duration, type of structural steel, type of construction (e.g. restrained or unrestrained) and the following criteria:
a.Testing: Provide ratings from listed systems tested in accordance with UL 263 (ASTM E119) and/or CAN/ULC-S101M.
2.Install such that all specified structural steel requiring fire protection is completely coated with intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing material. Verify proper wet film thickness per coat and overall dry film thickness of TFIFRM required per listed system details. Verify proper dry-time between application of TFIFRM coats.
3.After installation is complete, remove masking and tarp materials and accessories that are not part of the listed system.
4.Repair or replace defective installations in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, listed systems details and applicable code requirements.
5.Clean intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing materials off adjacent non-specified surfaces as work progresses, using methods and cleaning materials approved in writing by intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing system manufacturer and which will not damage the surfaces being cleaned.
6.Notify Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) when intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing installation is ready for inspection; obtain advance approval of anticipated inspection dates and phasing, if any, required to allow subsequent construction to proceed.
a.Verify correct overall dry film thickness of intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing has been applied for each type of structural steel per listed system details.
b.Verify that inspections of dry intumescent TFIFRM material have been conducted prior to application of an approved topcoat.

B.Do not cover intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing with other construction and/or materials until approval of authority having jurisdiction has been received. Do not cover intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing material with other fireproofing materials.

          3.3FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A.Owner will engage Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to determine field inspection procedures and which party will perform the field inspection (e.g. AHJ or a designated independent third-party testing agency).

B.Notify testing agency at least 7 days prior to date when intumescent TFIFRM fireproofing installation will be ready for inspection; obtain advance approval of general schedule and phasing, if any, required to allow subsequent construction to proceed.

C.Upon completion of installation, contractor shall provide the building owner or owner's representative with "As-Built" prints that indicate any construction deviations.

          3.4CLEANING, MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION

A.Remove left over material and debris from work area.

B.Protect installed products until completion of project. Use methods recommended by manufacturer to protect fire protection products before, during, and after installation.
