DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A.
Cooperate with regulatory agency or authority and provide data as requested by authority having jurisdiction.

Design Criteria: Prebuild tanks shall meet the following design criteria:

Tank shall be vented to atmospheric pressure and is not designed as a pressure vessel.
2.
Static Load: Tank shall withstand Specific Gravity Loading of 1.0
3.
Joint Design per A.I.S.C. with 2:1 safety factor.

4.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Store products under cover in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

Keep all bundles dry before assembly of the tank. Store all hardware boxes inside.

Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
Examine supporting grade and or foundations for compliance with manufacturer's requirements, including installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of installation.
C.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
A.
Install tanks in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
Foundation: Tank foundation shall be installed on firm and compacted soil. Tank pad shall be level.
C.
Foundation: Place on prepared concrete foundations and slabs provided as specified under Section 03300.

Anchor securely in place, allowing for required movement, including expansion and contraction.
2.
Locate anchor bolts towards the outside of the anchor bolt holes (away from tank) to permit the incremental expansion that can occur with the initial filling.
E.
Verify the orientation of the inspection hatch sheet, roof ladder inspection hatch, water level gauges, pipe penetrations and other accessories prior to start of erection.
F.
Wall Penetration Fittings:
1.
All fittings shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's procedures.
2.
All fittings shall be oriented per tank drawings prior to shipment or installed on site if field assembled.

G.
Any penetrations through the wall sheets must not be made on a vertical bolt seam. Penetrations should be located towards the center of a wall sheet such that the hole and collars do not interfere with any structural bolt hole locations.
H.
Position the geotextile bag and liner in the center of the tank before it is completely closed-in.
I.
Install roof and eve ladders, platforms, cages, stairs, etc when the 1st wall sheet tier and roof are completed and before the liner is attached.
J.
Install water gauges and other roof-mounted accessories.
K.
As the tank is being raised, continue assembling ladders etc. as you go.
L.
Complete installation in accordance with the manufacturers written instructions. Torque all bolts in strict compliance with the manufacturer's requirements. Submit certification of the torque wrench's accuracy prior to torqueing.
1.
Filling and Hydraulic Testing: Following completion of erection provide Quality Control testing in strict compliance with the manufacturer's printed requirements. Submit a copy of the completed test repost certified by the manufacturer upon successful completion.
2.
Tank shall be hydro-tested for leakage by filling tank to overflow level.
3.
Tank shall not be filled with water for a minimum of seven days of completion.
M.
Cleaning: Tank shall be disinfected in accordance with tank manufacturer's recommendations per AWWA C 652 procedures.
N.
If white rust has started to develop prior to acceptance, separate parts and wipe off any moisture. Next, using a clean cloth, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or food-grade oil to the entire part.
A.
Before anchoring the tank ensure that the tank is round. Maximum variation from perfect roundness is 3/4 inch on the radius.
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
B.
Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
