Whether it's sheet, plate, bar, or tube,our ultra-fine finishes ensure consistency across all materials. Our polish process offers an alternative to standard 2B, removing all imperfections and discoloration to create a consistent finish for your assembly components. At Guy Metals, quality from start to finish looks like this:
Quality inventory of stainless steel sheet, plate, bar, and tube. We inspect each piece for defects.
Processing equipment specifically designed to maintain the integrity of the finish and preserve the purity of the metal. This includes cut-to-length, laser jet, and waterjet machines.
Ultra-fine polishes that remove imperfections and ensure a consistent look and feel across sheet, plate, bar, and tube.
          PART 1GENERAL

          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with a minimum five years documented experience.
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum two years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.
          C.Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up on might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
          D.Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
          1.Intent of mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
          2.If mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
          3.Retain mock-up during construction for comparison with completed work.
          4.Do not alter or remove mock-up until work is completed or removal is authorized.
          A.Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.
          A.Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
          B.Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.

          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Our proven process, PFD (PIT FREE DAIRY), provides a consistent, quality finish to every piece of stainless that we polish. No customer or application is the same, so we produce each order to your specifications. Delete finish option is not required.
          A.Pit Free Dairy (PFD) Finish: Smooth pit-free surface; 20-20RA. Consistent look and color.
          1.Bar, Square, and Rectangle Polishing: 1/8 to 8 inch (3 to 203 mm) width and height.
          2.Tube polishing: 1/2 to 8 inch (13 to 203 mm) diameter.
          3.Consistent look and color finish.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Developed for our customers' needs for smoothness and consistency, Super4 (Single Digit RA) is a 5 to 9 RA product that is finer than 2B. Delete finish option is not required.
          B.Super4 Finish: Smooth pit-free surface; single digit RA. 5-9RA. Consistent look and color.
          1.Bar, Square, and Rectangle Polishing: 1/8 to 8 inch (3 to 203 mm) width and height.
          2.Tube polishing: 1/2 to 8 inch (13 to 203 mm) diameter.
          A.Stainless Style Materials:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** This free-machining grade is used in automatic machining operations. It is corrosion resistant to atmospheric exposures, sterilizing solutions, most organic and many inorganic chemicals, most dyes, nitic acids, and foods. Delete if not required.
          1.Stainless Steel Grade 303:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The most widely used of all stainless steel grades. Heat-resistant and offers good corrosion resistance to many chemical corrodents, as well as industrial atmospheres. With good formability, can be readily welded by all common methods. Delete if not required.
          2.Stainless Steel Grade: 304
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** An extra low carbon variation that avoids harmful carbide precipitation due to welding. This variation offers the same corrosion resistance as 304, but with slightly lower mechanical properties. Delete if not required.
          3.Stainless Steel Grade: 304/L
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** This grade is more resistant to corrosion and pitting than 304 and offers higher strength at elevated temperatures. An extra low carbon variation that helps avoid carbide precipitation due to welding. Delete if not required.
          4.Stainless Steel Grade: 316/L
