          1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with ISO certification and a minimum ten years documented experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum five years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity and is acceptable to the primary materials manufacturer.
 
          C.Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up on might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project. Delete if not required.
 
          D.Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
          1.Intent of mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
          2.If mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
          3.Retain mock-up during construction as a standard for comparison with completed work.
          4.Do not alter or remove mock-up until work is completed or removal is authorized.
 
          1.7PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
 
          A.Pre-installation Meetings: Before start of construction schedule, and conduct a pre-installation meeting at Project Site, in order to coordinate work of this Section, with work of related Subcontractors.
          1.Ensure attendance of Subcontractor performing work of this Section and representatives of manufacturers and fabricators involved in, or affected by, installation and coordination with other materials and installations that have preceded or will follow. Advise General Contractor, Architect and Owner in advance of scheduled meeting dates.
          2.Agenda: Review progress of other construction activities and preparations for the particular activity under consideration. Agenda shall include schedule, drain and scupper interface, slope and drainage plan, flashing, door thresholds, responsibilities, critical path items, and approvals.
          3.Record significant discussions, agreements, and disagreements, including required corrective measures and actions.
          4.Reporting: Distribute minutes of the meeting to each party present and to other parties requiring information.
 
          1.8DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver materials in original packages and containers with unbroken seals and bearing manufacturer's labels with date of manufacture and production lot number. Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
 
          B.Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.
 
          1.9PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          1.10General Contractor shall maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
 
          1.11WARRANTY
 
          A.Manufacturer's Warranty: Provide manufacturer's standard joint manufacturer-applicator warranty for the specified term.

          2.2FIRE RETARDANT DECK COVERING SYSTEM
 
          A.Basis of Design: Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear as manufactured by Crossfield Products Corp.
          1.Description: Trowel applied waterproof neoprene composition traffic bearing roof deck surfacing system composed of a slip-sheet, waterproof membrane, traffic surfacing, and finish coats.
          2.Traffic deck binder and all rubber emulsions shall be neoprene liquid with a minimum neoprene solids content of 35 percent when tested per the dry cup method.
          3.Aggregate for traffic surface coating shall be suitably graded, fine trap-rock passing a No. 20 mesh sieve and retained on a No. 40 mesh sieve.
          4.Waterproof Membrane is a proprietary synthetic rubber emulsion waterproofing membrane with a minimum Solid Volume of 52.20 percent and a Viscosity Range of 14,000-18,000 cps at 75 degrees F (23.9 degrees C).
          5.Slip-Sheet shall consist of an asphalt-saturated glass fiber matting weighing not less than 20 lbs (9.1 kg) per 100 sq ft (9.3 sq m) and no more than 30 lbs (13.6 kg) per 100 sq ft (9.3 sq m) and contain no rag or organic fibers.
          6.Fabric used as reinforcement for waterproof flashing shall be 7-1/2 oz (213 grams) woven polypropylene fabric.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** In server environment or dramatic seasonal change areas, use 7-1/2 ounce woven polypropylene fabric in lieu of glass fiber fabric. Delete if not required.
          7.Fabric used as reinforcement for waterproof membrane on horizontal surfaces shall be a minimum 1 oz per sq ft (305 grams per sq m) non-directional glass fiber matting.
          8.Final Finish dressing shall be a single component, water-phase acrylic latex emulsion material, pigmented and of a consistency suitable for roller application.

          1.Description: Fluid applied waterproof synthetic rubber composition vehicular traffic bearing roof deck surfacing system composed of an epoxy primer/bondcoat, two coats of polyurethane rubber waterproof membrane, traffic surfacing, and aliphatic finish coats.
          2.Traffic deck binder and all rubber emulsions shall be compounded with synthetic rubber liquid and shall have minimum synthetic rubber solids content of 85 percent when tested per the dry cup method, and a VOC of less 100 grams per L.
          3.Aggregate for traffic surface coating shall be suitably graded, fine trap-rock passing a No. 20 mesh sieve and retained on a No. 40 mesh sieve.
          4.Fabric used as reinforcement for waterproof flashing shall be 7-1/2 oz (213 grams) woven polypropylene fabric.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin preparation and installation until substrates are properly constructed and inspected complying with ACI 311.4R-05 Guide for Concrete Inspection. The General Contractor is to correct non-conformities if defects are discovered. Repair per ACI 546.R-04. Turn over work in broom clean condition free of debris and foreign matter.
 
          B.Concrete must be of a steel trowel finish and properly pitched for drainage. The concrete surface must be free of low spots and high protrusions. If the surface is badly spalled and contains very deep pits or requires extensive buildup to obtain pitch, an approved fill should be applied. Prior to the traffic topping installation, lightweight concrete must have ample time to dry out due to its inclination to retain moisture. Concrete surfaces shall have a moisture centered below 7 percent.
 
          C.Lightweight concrete must have minimum compression strength of 2,200 psi (15168.5 kPa) and must not contain vermiculite or perlite. Must meet minimum pull-out strength of 75 lbs (333.6 N).
 
          D.Plywood must be of an ACX exterior grade, 'A' side exposed, and must be firm enough to support the anticipated load without 'springiness'. Plywood sheets must be securely fastened with screws or screw-type or ring shank nails; recommended for sheets to be glued. Plywood sheets must be staggered so that no four corners come together. Plywood should be a minimum 5/8 inch (16 mm), Tongue-and-Groove, over joists and support span shall be a maximum of 16 inch (406 mm) on center. All edges and joints to be blocked, including Tongue-and-Groove that is 1-1/8 inch (28.5 mm) or less. Joints shall be opened to 1/8 inch (3 mm) on the top side of the plywood and filled with G-26 to be flush with the plywood. All joints shall then be striped with G-26 reinforced with 4 inch (102 mm) wide 3 oz (85 gram) fiberglass. The G-26 shall be smoothed out to a feather edge. OSB is not an acceptable substrate.
          **NOTE TO SPECIFIER** In severe climates or conditions (i.e. Close to the ocean or industrial conditions) use copper or stainless steel flashing materials.
 
          E.Flashing shall be cleaned and degreased, joints to be overlapped approximately 3 inch (76 mm) and 100 percent caulked or soldered seam joints. Sheet metal should be of proper gauge for each condition, minimum No. 26 gauge bonderized, copper or stainless steel sheet metal flashing nailed staggered 4 inch (102 mm) on center. Flashing shall be installed in accordance with SMACNA standards.
 
          F.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another contractor, notify Architect and General Contractor in writing of unsatisfactory preparation. Unsatisfactory conditions must be corrected satisfactory before proceeding with the work.
 
          G.Survey the deck elevations to insure proper drainage. Minimum slope for drainage is dependent on which building code is enforced at the location of the project. The UBC requires 1/4 inch per ft (21 mm per m). The minimum slope required to provide drainage is 1/8 inch per ft (10.5 mm per m).
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.The area of the work shall be turned over to the waterproofing contractor in a broom clean condition.
 
          B.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          C.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** For installation of decorative finishes consult Crossfield Products Corp.
          1.Apply each component in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and to thickness indicated.
          2.Prepare and prime the sheet metal or alternate flashing. Inspect all transitions and terminations for proper waterproof seal that the installation of the flashing is in accordance with the recommended application methods.
          3.Keep daily job logs with environmental conditions.
          **NOTE TO SPECIFIER** The following paragraph applies to installation of Weatherwear only. Delete if not required.
          4.Installation of Weatherwear:
          a.Apply epoxy bondcoat/primer by brush, roller, squeegee, or spray apparatus.
          b.Apply reinforced waterproof membrane at all vertical junctures.
          1)Embed polypropylene fabric into rubber membrane liquid.
          c.Apply slip-sheet over properly prepared substrate. Overlap seams a minimum of 2 inches (51 mm). Apply latex bonding coat when required.
          d.Apply synthetic rubber waterproof membrane solution with polypropylene fabric reinforcement to entire area to be coated. Overlap all seams a minimum of 2 inches (51 mm).
          e.Trowel apply two coats of neoprene and aggregate composition traffic surfacing over all surfaces previously covered with waterproof membrane.
          1)Sand surface to remove trowel marks or small surface imperfections.
          f.Trowel apply two smoothing coats of neoprene and fine aggregate composition to achieve smooth, filled surface.
          1)Sand to remove trowel marks or small surface imperfections.
          g.Roller apply two coats of final finish dressing to a uniform finish. Clearsealer is recommend.
          h.Finished neoprene composition traffic-bearing roof deck surfacing shall be a nominal 3/16 inch (5 mm) thick, smooth and uniform in color and texture.
          i.Trowel apply two coats of polyacrylate Co-Polymer and fine aggregate composition into reinforcing fabric to achieve smooth and even protection coat.
          **NOTE TO SPECIFIER** The following paragraph applies to Auto-Dex 500 only. Delete if not required.
          5.Installation of Auto-Dex 500:
          a.Apply epoxy bondcoat/primer by brush, roller, squeegee, or spray apparatus over the entire surface to be coated. Allow to cure a minimum of 6 hours or tack free, before proceeding. Apply subsequent coats within 48 hours of application of primer/bondcoat.
          b.Detail Coat, apply elastomeric polymer caulking 3/4 inch (19 mm). Cant at all vertical junctures. Apply reinforced membrane at all vertical junctures, transitions, control joints, or cracks. Embed polypropylene fabric into synthetic rubber membrane liquid.
          c.**NOTE TO SPECIFER** Apply additional coat with slip-resistant aggregate on steeply grade or traffic ramp areas
          d.Apply two coats synthetic polyurethane rubber waterproof membrane solution at a 14 mils (0.36 mm) WFT per coat. Take proper precautions to avoid pinholes.
          e.Apply two coats of synthetic rubber and aggregate composition traffic surfacing over all surfaces previously covered with waterproof membrane. Find and repair any small surface imperfections.
          f.Roller apply two coats of aliphatic final finish dressing to a uniform finish.
          g.**NOTE TO SPECIFER** Other work may include Parking lines, bumper curds and seismic joints
          h.Finished synthetic rubber composition vehicular traffic waterproof surfacing shall be a nominal 60 mils (1.52 mm) thick, smooth and uniform in color and texture.

          6.Installation of Auto-Dex V:
          a.Apply latex co-polymer bonding coat over entire area.
          b.Detail Coat, apply elastomeric polymer caulking 3/4 inch (19 mm). Cant at all vertical junctures. Apply reinforced membrane at all vertical junctures, transitions, control joints, or cracks. Embed polypropylene fabric into synthetic rubber membrane liquid.           c.Apply aqueous neoprene rubber waterproof membrane solution with fabric reinforcement to entire area to be coated. Overlap all seams a minimum of 2 inches (51 mm).
          d.Apply an additional aqueous neoprene rubber waterproof membrane without any reinforcement.
          e.Trowel apply two coats of polyacrylate co-polymer and fine aggregate composition to achieve a smooth, protective coat.
          f.**NOTE TO SPECIFER** Apply additional coat with slip-resistant aggregate on steeply grade or traffic ramp areas
          g.Apply finish texture coat to desired finish profile. Apply additional texture coat to ramps and high use areas.
          h.**NOTE TO SPECIFER** Other work may include Parking lines, bumper curds and seismic joints
          i.Roller apply two coats of final finish dressing to a uniform finish. Optional Clearsealer is recommend.

          b.Detail Coat, apply elastomeric polymer caulking 3/4 inch (19 mm). Cant at all vertical junctures. Apply reinforced membrane at all vertical junctures, transitions, control joints, or cracks. Embed polypropylene fabric into synthetic rubber membrane liquid. Overlap all seams a minimum of 2 inches ( 51 mm).
          c.Trowel apply the Elastatex 500 urethane bodycoat over the entire surface. Take care to provide a uniform thickness and avoid trowel marks.
          d.Broadcast rubber aggregate into the wet urethane body coat, allow to cure
          e.Remove all excess rubber aggregate. Inspect surface to insure a completely monolithic seamless surface.

          f.Roller apply two coats of final finish dressing to a uniform finish.

          f.Roller apply two coats of final finish dressing to a uniform finish.
          g.Finished waterproof mechanical equipment room floor surfacing shall be a nominal 1/8 - 3/16 inch (3 to 5 mm) thick depending on options; uniform in color and texture.

          9.Installation of ME Flooring NR:

          b.Detail Coat, apply elastomeric polymer caulking 3/4 inch (19 mm). Cant at all vertical junctures.           c.Apply synthetic rubber waterproof membrane solution to entire area to be coated at a minimum 25 mils (0.64 mm) WFT.
          d.Apply an additional aqueous neoprene rubber waterproof membrane at a minimum 25 mils (0.64 mm) WFT.
          e.Trowel apply two coats of polyacrylic co-polymer composition traffic surfacing over all surfaces previously covered with waterproof membrane at nominal 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) finish thickness as specified. Sand surface to remove trowel marks or small surface imperfections.
          **NOTE TO SPECIFIER** Various optional topcoats are available for specific performance criteria or esthetic requirements
          f.Roller apply two coats of final finish dressing to a uniform finish.
          g.Finished waterproof mechanical equipment room floor surfacing shall be a nominal 1/8 inch (3 mm) uniform in color and texture.
 
          3.4CLEANING AND PROTECTION
 
          A.Clean products in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
 
          B.Prohibit foot and wheel traffic over flooring for 24 hours.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
