          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00.
 
          B.Product Data:
          1.Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used.
          2.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          3.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          4.Typical installation methods.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not applicable to product type.
 
          C.Verification Samples: Two representative units of each type, size, pattern, and color.
 
          D.Shop Drawings: Include details of materials, construction, and finish. Include relationship with adjacent construction.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer's Qualifications: Manufacturer has a minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing extruded batten systems of this nature. The aluminum battens specified in this section shall be produced in a professional factory environment.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum two years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.
 
          C.Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          D.Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
          1.The intent of a mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
          2.If the mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild the mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
          3.Retain mock-up during construction as a standard for comparison with completed work.
          4.Do not alter or remove mock-up until work is completed or removal is authorized.
 
          1.6PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
 
          A.Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.
 
          1.7PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Delivery: Deliver batten system to job site properly packaged to provide protection against transportation damage.
 
          B.Handling: Exercise extreme care in unloading, storing ,and erecting batten system to prevent bending, warping, twisting, scratches, and surface damage.
 
          C.Storage: Store materials and accessories above ground on well skidded platforms or crates.
 
          1.8WARRANTY
 
          A.Manufacturer's standard limited warranty unless indicated otherwise.
          1.A guaranteed warranty of fifteen years is to be signed and issued in the name of the owner to cover the extruded batten material.
          2.This warranty is limited to replacement of defective material only.
          3.Not Covered: Faulty installation which is to be rectified by the installing contractor. The manufacturer is not liable for incidental expenses or consequential damages.

          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete one of the following two paragraphs; coordinate with requirements of Division 1 section on product options and substitutions.
 
          B.Substitutions: Not permitted.
 
          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with the provisions of Section 01 60 00.
 
          2.2ALUMINUM SIDING
 
          A.Batten Sections: Extruded 6063-T6 aluminum alloy base and extensions that snap fit together.
          1.Extrusion Wall Thickness: 0.063 inch (1.60 mm) minimum.
          2.Batten Base: 2 inch (51 mm) wide. Suitable for all specified extensions.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete batten extension options not required.
          3.Batten Extension: 2 inches (51 mm).
          4.Batten Extension: 4 inches (102 mm).
          5.Batten Extension: 6 inches (152 mm).
          6.Batten Extension: 8 inches (203 mm).
 
          B.End Caps: Fasteners insert into countersunk openings in end caps for flush fit as indicated where ends are visible. Alloy: 6063-T5.
 
          C.Hardware and Fasteners: Bolts and screws to be zinc plated or galvanized steel required to suit application.
 
          D.Finish: Powder Coating: Electrostatically applied.
          1.Coating: 0.002 to 0.004 inches (0.051 to 0.102 mm) per manufacturers recommendations.
          2.Color: As determined by the Architect from Manufacturer's offering.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until the substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.
          1.Inspect installed work of other trades and verify that such work is complete to a point where this work may continue.
          2.Verify installation may be made in accordance with approved shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals, as indicated on drawings, and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.
          1.Locate and place battens level, plumb and tight fitting at indicated alignment.
          2.Use concealed anchors where possible.
          3.Install end caps at top and bottom of each batten.
 
          3.4CLEANING AND PROTECTION
 
          A.Dispose of excess materials and remove debris from site.
 
          B.Clean work in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
 
          C.Protect work against damage until final acceptance.
          1.Replace or repair to the satisfaction of the architect all work that becomes damaged prior to final acceptance.
          a.Repair damaged finishes so no evidence remains of corrective work.
          b.Return items to the factory that cannot be refinished in the field.
          1)Make required alterations and refinish entire unit or provide new materials.
 
          D.Upon completion of installation, maintain life of product by properly cleaning annually. Refer to warranty details for more information.
