QUALITY ASSURANCE

Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with a minimum five years documented experience.

Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum two years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.

Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.

Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.

Intent of mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.

If mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.

1.6

PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE

Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items, approvals and the following:

Installation procedures and manufacturer's recommendations.

Safety procedures.

Coordination with other Work.

Preparation, substrates, penetrations, and details.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.

Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.

Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

PROJECT CONDITIONS

Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

WARRANTY

Manufacturer's standard limited warranty unless indicated otherwise.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS - FINISHES

Aluminum Finishing: Proprietary high-durability resin for resistance to chalking and fading, and contains high-quality exterior-grade and ceramic pigmentation for superior color stability.

Steel Finishing: Proprietary composite polyester resin with ceramic pigmentation. UV resistant.

Standards Compliance:

ASTM D523: 60 degree Specular Gloss. 10-80. Gardner 60 degree meter or equivalent.

NCCA II-12: Pencil Hardness. F - 2H. No break in the film.

NCCA II-10: Post Forming 180 degree Bend. 1-T to 2-T. No pick off with Scotch No. 610 tape.

ASTM D2794: Reverse Impact, 60 inch pounds 3x Gauge on Steel, 1-1/2 X Gauge on Aluminum. Passes. No pick off with Scotch No. 610 tape.

ASTM G53 Q.U.V. Weatherometer, 1000 hours. Passes. No objectionable chalking per ASTM D-659, color change per ASTM D2244 or blistering per

ASTM D714.

ASTM D2247L Humidity, 1000 hours at 100 degrees F and 100 percent Humidity. Passes. Less than 5 percent No. 8 blisters.

ASTM B117 Salt Spray 1000 hours 5 percent Salt Solution. Passes. Less than 5 percent No 6 blisters and Less than 1/8 inch (3 mm) creep or tape off from the scribe per ASTM D1654.

ASTM D2244: 45 degree South Florida Exposure, 10 years. Passes. No objectionable color change. Exotic colors do not apply.

STEEL SIDING

Performance and Design Requirements:

Steel Siding: CS Type B, 29 gauge, .015 inch (0.38 mm) thick galvanized steel coil complying with ASTM A653, and ASTM G60; 6 to 10 ounce zinc/square foot. Zinc coated on both sides a continuous hot dipped galvanizing method. Recycled Steel: 70 percent.

Factory formed with a nailing flange to interlock securely with successive courses.

Tensile Strength: 47,000 to 57,000 psi (324 to 393 Mpa).

Yield Strength: 30,000 to 55,000 psi (205 to 380 Mpa).

J-Channel: Used for receiving siding on all sides of windows and doors, at rake edges of gables and in other miscellaneous situations. Deeper J-channels are for insulated siding, and narrower J-channels for non-insulated siding. Nailed 12 inch (305 mm) on center.

Outer Corner Base: For horizontal and vertical sidings. Receives siding from both sides. Deeper bases are used with insulated siding, and narrower bases with non-insulated siding. Both flanges are nailed 12 inch (305 mm) O.C. Available in 3/4 inch (19 mm).

PART 3

EXECUTION

3.1

EXAMINATION

Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.

Verify weather barrier installation is complete and ready for the installation of aluminum siding.

If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2

PREPARATION

Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3

INSTALLATION

Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions approved submittals and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.

Installation of vapor retarder is specified in Section 07 27 19 - Plastic Sheet Air Barriers .

Install flashings overhead condition of openings as indicated on Drawings. Lap weather barrier over flashing

Attach to substrate for weathertight installation; ensure that horizontal components are installed true to level, that vertical components are installed true to plumb.

Stagger lap joints in horizontal siding in uniform pattern as successive courses of siding are installed.

Install joint sealers are specified in Section 07 90 00 - Joint Protection.

ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

Clean dirt from surface of installed products, using mild soap and water.

After completing installation, remove from project site excess materials and debris resulting from installation of vinyl products.

Clean products in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.

Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
