          1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer with not less than five years documented experience
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Installer with not less than three years documented experience.
 
          C.Pre-Installation Meetings: Conduct pre-installation meetings to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, construction documents, details, and manufacturer's warranty requirements.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          D.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
          3.Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Storage and Protection: Store materials protected from exposure to harmful environmental conditions and at temperature and humidity conditions recommended by the manufacturer.
          1.Do not store siding under a tarp or in a garage or enclosed area. Keep wood shims between layers of boards to allow proper air flow.
          2.Allow hardwood siding to sit where it will be installed for 7 days prior to installation to get acclimated to your local temperature and humidity levels.
          3.Siding should be elevated at least 12 inches off the ground during acclimation.
          4.Place siding on top of blocks of wood to ensure the bottom boards are well ventilated.
          5.Do not cover siding material with plastic or a tarp during this acclimation period. Cover the top of the pile with a sheet of plywood to shed the water is recommended.
          6.Keep material dry until installation.
 
          1.8PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

          A.Rainscreen Siding is custom fabricated of a selection of durable species of natural hardwood, fabricated with shiplap edges on all four sides and installed without exposed surface fasteners providing an effective rainscreen with a natural look.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Confirm that all critical dimensions are as specified on the Drawings
 
          C.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Repair substrate flaws or defects before applying siding
 
          C.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Prepare structural backing with studs, backer board, weather barrier and furring as required to meet the performance requirements specified. Install plywood sheathing over a properly prepared support system in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and approved shop drawings.
 
          C.Install weather barrier over prepared substrate in accordance with the manufacturers requirements.
 
          D.Securely attach siding using methods and materials recommended by siding manufacturer.
 
          E.Install siding and accessories with all joint members plumb and true.
 
          3.4CLEANING
 
          A.Upon completion of siding application, clean entire area, removing all scrap, packaging, and unused materials related to this work.
 
          3.5PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Inspect walls for any damage. Replace panels that are damaged.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
