          B.Self Adhering Vapor Barrier Installation:
1.Surfaces to be covered by the vapor barrier shall be clean, dry and free of all loose dirt, dust, debris, corrosion, greases, oils, frost or dew. Do not apply vapor barrier during rain or sleet or when the ambient temperature is below -4 degrees F (-20 degrees C). Temporarily seal any exposed leading edges with lap sealant at the end of the day's work. Remove temporary sealant prior to proceeding.
2.Align vapor barrier membrane in position. Lap all membrane rolls, pieces and patches a minimum of 2.0 inches (50 mm). If installing the rolls horizontally, lower rolls shall be overlapped with higher rolls, shingle fashion. Remove release paper and neatly adhere the membrane to the substrate. Avoid air bubbles, wrinkles or lap voids in the membrane during installation. Large wrinkles and air bubbles and all lap voids shall be cut out, laid flat and properly patched with vapor barrier patches. Roll the vapor barrier heavily after installation to ensure full contact.
3.Ensure the vapor barrier membrane is well sealed to all roof protrusions and at all details. Extend vapor barrier up above insulation layer at curbs and parapets and tie in to the air barrier or underside of roof membrane, as shown in the drawings. Use a manufacturer approved tie-in method.

          C.Vapor Retarder Installation:
1.Do not install vapor retarder in rain or inclement weather.
2.Broom clean the deck prior to installation, removing all dirt, debris, oil and grease. Substrate shall be free of all sharp or protruding objects that could tear the vapor retarder membrane.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not required.
3.When applying to a fluted steel deck, vapor retarder shall be installed parallel to the flutes, with all side laps centered over an upper flute. Side laps shall be lapped a minimum of 2 inches (51 mm), ends; 6 inches (150 mm).
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not required.
4.Fully Adhered Application: Apply continuous parallel ribbons of adhesive on 6 inches (150 mm) centers over the area to be covered by the vapor retarder roll (centered along each flute on steel decks) at the rate of 0.4 gallons / 100 sf (0.16 l/m2). Ensure that one ribbon of adhesive is applied to the top of any previous roll's edge to seal the lap. Unroll the vapor retarder into the adhesive, ensuring a positive contact. Roll the side laps with a roller to ensure a good seal. Repeat this procedure for subsequent rolls, sealing end laps with a minimum 6 inches (150 mm) wide strip of adhesive.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Acceptable only if ballasting or mechanically fastening insulation over vapor retarder. Delete if not required.
5.Loose Laid Application: Unroll the first vapor barrier roll and immediately install the (ballasted or mechanically fastened) roof insulation over top, leaving at least one foot (305 mm) of vapor retarder exposed on all sides. Using a brush or roller, liberally apply a minimum 2 Inches (51 mm) wide strip of adhesive to the upper surface of the side laps and a 6 inches (152 mm) wide strip of adhesive to the upper surface of the end laps. Unroll the next vapor retarder roll, overlapping the previous roll the required distance to form the seam. After rolling the seam area to ensure a good seal, continue positioning insulation over the lap and onto the adjacent vapor barrier roll. Repeat this procedure for the remaining area to be covered.
6.Flashing: Apply adhesive to the substrate and adhere the vapor barrier tightly around the detail. Cut pieces of vapor retarder, minimum 2 inches (50 mm) wider on all sides of the detailed area, shall be adhered in liberal applications of adhesive to ensure a tight seal. At perimeters, carry the vapor retarder up to the upper level of the roof insulation and adhere it to the underside of the roof membrane with a membrane compatible adhesive Use good flashing practices to ensure a moisture tight seal.
7.Expansion Joints: Ensure that adhesive is applied to both edges of the expansion joint. Carry vapor retarder over the expansion joint but provide sufficient slack to allow for the maximum expected expansion of the joint. Press the vapor retarder into the adhesive on the remaining side of the joint.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not required.

          3.5ROOF DRAIN INSTALLATION
