Z SECURE is a patented and tested attachment system for doors and limited windows used in conjunction with security window films. Glass is typically the weak point many criminals exploit in order to gain access to a building or home. Consequently, it is prudent to have a system and method which allows for increased security. If an unwanted intruder breaks the glass, this attachment will hold the security filmed glass in the frame of the door. Currently, many of the specifications issued with construction project drawings reference a bead of silicone applied to the glass stop onto the filmed surface of the glass. The security film will stay attached to the glass, but this silicone option will not hold the glass in a frame because the glass stops are just clipped in and simply pop off, and the intruder gains access.
The goal of an attachment system is to keep the glass in the frame. The only way to achieve any level of protection with a film system is to have an attachment system. If glass is compromised by an intruder and does not have a film AND attachment system in place, the glass will not stay in the frame.
Any doors with wooden stops are not designed to accept any form of film attachment system. In a wood door, the lites must be metal squeeze frames.
Z SECURE is a custom product made for each door size and style with available colors that match popular frame options including Clear Anodized, Dark Bronze, and more. Aesthetically this system is preferred over the rubberized glazing tape OR the silicone bead alternatives that DO NOT WORK to keep the filmed glass in the frame. Z SECURE is custom shaped to go over the glass stop with a minimum 1/-inch (13 mm) bite on to the frame and 90 degrees bend to glass. Another 90 degrees bend will go onto the glass surface, again with a minimum 1/2-inch (13 mm) bite. The actual metal onto the frame and glass surface will be 5/8 inch (16 mm) to allow the 1/2-inch (13 mm) VHB to be recessed from the edge. Bend and Angle Dimensions of the shape will always vary because of the custom fit of Z Secure and depending on the width and depth of the glass stop. |
