          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section and employs technical-support personnel who are available for product training.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section and trained and approved by the manufacturer.
 
          C.Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver, store, and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
          1.Environmental Conditioning: Acclimate substrates, adhesives, and resilient flooring, in an enclosed building, with the HVAC system operating continuously from 72 hours prior to, during, and after installation, with ambient temperature between 65 and 95 degrees F (18 and 35 degrees C), and a relative humidity between 30 and 60 percent, and complying with requirements of resilient-flooring manufacturer.
          2.For installations over radiant-heat subfloors, turn off heat continuously for 24 hours prior to, during and for 24 hours after installation. Failure to turn the heat off may result in shortened working of the adhesive. When turning radiant heat back on, raise it incrementally, not to exceed a change of more than 5 degrees per hour to a maximum of 85 degrees F (30 degrees C) subfloor temperature.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          2.2PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete VOC content options not required.
 
          A.Adhesive VOC Content for Vinyl composition Tile: 50 g/L or less.
 
          B.Adhesive VOC Content for Rubber Flooring: 60 g/L or less.
 
          C.Adhesives: Comply with requirements of California Department of Public Health's "Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers."
 
          2.3RESILIENT FLOOR ADHESIVES
 
          A.Products: Provide the following:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** ISE Logik MVBA-500 multifunctional adhesive is a one-component, 100-percent solids, cross-linking modified silane polymer-based adhesive formulated for the installation of all types of resilient flooring. This solvent-free, water-free, and isocyanate-free, non-flammable, easy-troweling, high-strength product is an excellent replacement for epoxy and urethane adhesives over porous and non-porous surfaces.
          1.ISE Logik MVBA-500 Premium Multi-Function Adhesive for Resilient Flooring.
          2.Adhesive Remover: Taylor Touchdown No. 9 Adhesive Remover/Stripper.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Acceptable substrates include: APA underlayment grade plywood and OSB, Association-grade particleboard, cement backer board, concrete and radiant heated subfloors, existing well-bonded non-cushion-backed vinyl, tile and sheet flooring, fully secured cork underlayment, Gypsum and lightweight concrete, Terazzo (properly prepared with all waxes and surface finishes removed).
 
          A.Examine substrates and conditions, with Applicator present, for compliance with requirements.
          1.Verify that substrates are sound, smooth, level, clean, and dry.
          2.Verify concrete substrate has reached a minimum of 2500 psi (17237 kPa) or design strength (whichever is greater).
          3.Verify that concrete has been placed in strict accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
          4.Verify there is no hydrostatic pressure.
          5.Verify that resilient flooring substrates are level to 3/16 inch in a 10 ft (5 mm in a 3 m) span.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following subparagraph if there are no wood substrates.
          6.Verify that wood substrates have a moisture content below 12 percent using a Tramex or Demhorst wood moisture meter.
 
          B.Do not proceed with application until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Prepare according to manufacturer's written instructions, industry guidelines, Division 01, and as follows:
          1.Follow flooring manufacturer's guidelines. Substrate must be prepared per ASTM F710 standards including, but not limited to the following:
          a.Concrete floors must be dry, clean, smooth and structurally sound. They shall be free of any foreign materials that might prevent adhesive bond, including dust, dirt, solvent, paint, wax, oil, grease, residual adhesive, adhesive removers, incompatible sealers, fire-retardant chemicals, fungicides, release agents, alkaline salts, excessive carbonation, laitance, mold, mildew, and curing, sealing, hardening or parting compounds.
          2.Flooring must be acclimated per manufacturer's guidelines.
          3.When used as a concrete moisture vapor barrier,substrate must be porous per ASTM F3191.
          4.Moisture Testing: NONE REQUIRED
          5.pH Testing: NONE REQUIRED
 
          B.Fill all surface cracks, grooves, depressions, control joints and non-moving joints with moisture- resistant patching and self-leveling compounds, allow to fully cure and correct high spots before applying adhesive.
 
          C.Protect adjacent surfaces during application.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Apply resilient flooring adhesive according to adhesive- and resilient flooring- manufacturer's written instructions and recommended tools and spreading rate.
          1.For application on properly prepared concrete substrates that have achieved a minimum of 2500 psi (17237 kPa) or specified design strength (whichever is greater); or, for application on properly prepared concrete substrates that have been in place for a minimum of 28 days:
          a.LVT/LVP, VCT/VET: Apply at a spread rate of 220 to 260 sq ft/gal (4.9 to 6.1 sq m/L) using 1/16 by 1/32 by 1/32 inch (1.6 by 0.8 by 0.8 mm) U-notch trowel.
          b.Sheet Goods, Rubber tile and sheet, Linoleum, WPC/WSC, Cork-backed hard surface, Cork flooring, Cork underlayment, Stair treads (rubber and vinyl):
          1)Apply at a spread rate of 150 to 180 sq ft/gal (3.7 to 4.9 sq m/L) using 1/16 by 1/16 by 1/16 inch (1.6 by 1.6 by 1.6 mm) square notch trowel.
 
          B.Install resilient flooring immediately after adhesive is spread and according to Division 09 Section for resilient flooring.
          1.Spread adhesive using required tools. Adhesive ridges will dissipateand does not require back-rolling under normal circumstances.
          2.Install flooring per the instructions below dependent upon desired application method.
          a.Tile products: Wait 10 minutes after adhesive is spread to build surface tack and reduce movement.
          1)Working time is approximately 45 min under acceptable temperature and humidity conditions.
          2)Use a hand roller and apply normal pressure to ensure a good bond. Periodically lift flooring material to verify proper transfer of adhesive.
          b.Sheet Goods and Stair Treads: Install flooring or stair treads immediately after adhesive is spread.
          1)Working time is approximately 45 min under acceptable temperature and humidity conditions.
          2)Periodically lift flooring material to verify proper transfer of adhesive.
          c.Roll and cross roll floor with a 75 to 100 lbs (34 to 45 kg) roller at the end of the installation to ensure proper transfer of adhesive.
          1)Wait a minimum of 1 hour, but no more than 2 hours, after the installation to roll and cross roll floor.
 
          C.Wait 6 hours before heat welding sheet goods.
 
          D.Do not wet mop the floor for 6 hours after the install is complete.
 
          E.Do not strip and finish the floor for 6 hours after the install is complete.
 
          F.Reseal lid when not in use to protect product.
 
          G.Traffic Times:
          1.Wait 3 hours before allowing light foot traffic.
          2.Wait 4 hours before allowing heavy foot traffic.
          3.Wait 8 hours before allowing heavy rolling loads; hospital beds, etc.
 
          3.4CLEANING
 
          A.While product is still wet: use a damp cloth and water to remove.
 
          B.While product is still soft: Use WF Taylor Touchdown No. 9 adhesive remover/stripper, denatured alcohol, or mineral spirits. Always check compatibility on a piece of scrap flooring.
 
          3.5PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect resilient flooring, complying with Division 09 Section for resilient flooring.
 
          B.Do not subject to heavy rolling loads for at least 8 hours after the installation is complete.
