          a.Adjustable bookshelves: Carry loads of 50 lbs per sq ft (23 kg per sq m) without deflection more than 3/16 inch (5 mm).
          1)Completed Frame: Rigid without use of sway braces, gusset plates, angle braces, or other devices that obstruct use of and access to shelves.
          2)Units to mount on mobile carriages.
          b.Welded Frames, Column Uprights: Cold-rolled steel, 0.064 inch (1.6 mm) thick, shaped into channels with 1/2 inch (13 mm) stiffening flanges.
          1)Channels: Web: 2 inches (51 mm). Front and Rear Face: 1-5/16 inches (33 mm).
          2)Smooth Box Shape: 2 x 2-5/8 inches (51 x 67 mm) in cross section. Eight right angle bends when bolted to adjoining column of the next unit.
          3)Columns: Perforated slots the full height on both faces spaced on 1 inch (25 mm) vertical centers.

          1)Formed with front and rear face flanges 3/4 inch (19 mm) high with fully closed box profile and no less than four 90 degree bends.
          2)No sharp edges allowed. Faces to receive label holders.
          f.Adjustable Base Shelves: Cold-rolled steel, 0.048 inch (1.2 mm) thick, with two 90 degree bends. 3 inch (76 mm) face at front and rear flanges, 3/4 inch (19 mm) high, with fully closed box profile with no less than four 90-degree bends.
          g.Adjustable Shelf Brackets: Cold-rolled steel, 0.064-inch- (1.6-mm-) thick, designed to maximize storage space.
          1)Brackets: To have four projections at rear, two hooks, and two safety lugs to engage column slots and permit adjustment of shelves, with protection against dislodgment.
          a)Fasten to shelves with tabs. Bracket design must allow shelf adjustment upward or downward without disturbing adjacent shelves.
          h.Gusset Base Supports: Cold-rolled steel, 0.080-inch- (2.0-mm-) thick.
          1)Height: Varies with upright height. Triangular shape, measuring 2 inches (51 mm) at the top and the depth of base at the bottom. 5/8-inch (16-mm) bend with 1/2-inch (13-mm) stiffening flange and holes to allow anchoring to floor decking.
          2)Supports: Constructed with shear tabs that interlock with uprights providing stability to welded frame. Shear Tabs: Ensure squareness and alignment of gusset base support to welded frame.
          i.Canopy Tops: Cold-rolled steel, 0.036 inch (0.9 mm) thick.
          1)Faces to be 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) high.
          2)Bracket supports formed of 0.080-inch- (2.0-mm-) thick, cold-rolled steel.
          3)Holes on each side of canopy top allow adjacent tops to be bolted together for uniform alignment.

          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.
 
          B.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals, and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.
 
          3.4FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
 
          A.Field Inspection: Coordinate field inspection in accordance with appropriate sections in Division 01.
