          1.4DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

          A.Structural Performance: Engineered to withstand high snow/wind loads of up to 35.5 psf.
 
          B.Corrosion Resistance: Separate incompatible materials to prevent electrolytic corrosion.
 
          1.5SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation and maintenance methods.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Shop drawings may not be required for small or simple projects. Delete the following paragraph if shop drawings are not required.
 
          C.Shop Drawings: Indicate materials, sizes, styles, fabrication, anchorage and installation details for awning system.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraphs if LEED is not applicable.
 
          D.LEED Submittals: Provide documentation of how the requirements of Credit will be met:
          1.List of proposed materials with recycled content. Indicate post-consumer recycled content and pre-consumer recycled content for each product having recycled content.
          2.Product data and certification letter indicating percentages by weight of post-consumer and pre-consumer recycled content for products having recycled content.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.
 
          E.Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, an individual color chip representing manufacturer's color and finish specified.
 
          F.Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, provide two color samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square that represent actual product, color, and finish.
 
          G.Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
 
          H.Closeout Submittals: Provide manufacturer's maintenance instructions that include recommendations for periodic cleaning and maintenance of all awning components.
 
          1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following an example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          A.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish one complete awning section in area designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.
          3.Reconstruct mock-up as required to produce acceptable work.
          4.Accepted mock-ups shall be comparison standard for remaining Work.
 
          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver to site and store materials in manufacturer's original containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.
 
          B.Store products in clean, dry area indoors until ready for installation. Store materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          C.Protect materials and finish from damage during handling and installation.
 
          1.8SEQUENCING
 
          A.Ensure that shop drawings and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          B.Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          1.9PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          B.Coordinate field measurements and fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays.
 
          1.10COORDINATION
 
          A.Coordinate Work with other operations and installation of adjacent materials to avoid damage.
 
          1.11WARRANTY
 
          A.The warranty for the aluminum frame of the Awnings, including all metal parts and components thereof, shall be valid for a period of ten (10) years from the original date of purchase, and two (2) years from the original date of purchase for the polycarbonate panel (the "Limited Warranty").
 
          1.12EXTRA MATERIALS
 
          A.See Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements, for additional provisions.

          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          2.2MATERIALS
 
          A.Aluminum: 6000 Series aluminum, alloy and temper recommended by aluminum producer and finisher for type of use and finish indicated.
 
          B.Panels: Polycarbonate 5/32-inch (4 mm) thick, Class 4 impact rated, conforming to ANSI/FM 4473. Panels UV protected on both sides.
          1.Panel Color: Clear.
          2.Panel Color: Textured.
          3.Panel Color: Gray Tint.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the Awning components required and delete those not required. Base Kits are used together with Extension Kits and Corner Kits for larger extended awning coverage. Verify that Base Kits, Extensions and Corners are clearly located on the Drawings.
 
          2.3COMPONENTS

          A.Icon Base Kit: 59 in by 39-3/8 in (1500 mm by 1000 mm) with powder coated aluminum frame and polycarbonate panel.

          E.Fasteners for Connecting Awning Kits to Adjacent Construction:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Awnings are prepared for use with 3/8 inch stainless steel fasteners. Verify that type and size of fasteners for connecting awning kits to other construction are shown on the Drawings and have been approved by a structural engineer for local code loading requirements.

          3.Include color-matched, powder-coated aluminum caps to cover the heads of the awning attachment hardware.
 
          2.4FINISH
 
          A.Shop Finish: Powder coat aluminum components in compliance with AAMA 2604.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select colors required from the following paragraphs and delete those not required. If more than one color is required, verify the locations are clearly shown on the Drawings. In addition to the colors listed, over 200 custom colors are available. Contact manufacturer for further information.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Verify mounting conditions are in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
 
          C.If substrate conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Provide anchorage devices and fittings to secure awnings to in-place construction, including threaded fittings for concrete inserts, toggle bolts and through-bolts.
 
          C.Install awnings plumb, level, square, and rigid.
 
          D.Separate dissimilar materials with bushings, gaskets, grommets, washers or coatings where required to prevent electrolytic corrosion.
 
          3.4CLEANING
 
          A.Remove temporary coverings and protection of adjacent work areas. Clean installed products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions before owner's acceptance.
 
          B.Remove from project site and legally dispose of construction debris associated with this work.
 
          3.5PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Replace defective or damaged components as directed by Architect.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
