Harvey Industries was founded in 1946 primarily as a supplier of carbon monoxide exhaust hose, tubing, adapters and accessories for the automotive aftermarket. The demand for complete, custom designed exhaust systems for the rapidly growing number of car dealerships and service garages being constructed, prompted Harvey Industries to research, develop and manufacture various products for both underground and overhead carbon monoxide exhaust systems.
Currently, Harvey Industries is represented in all fifty states and Canada. Our expanded product line includes systems for all possible applications of carbon monoxide and fume removal, as well as all accessories necessary to fill every need. Custom designing is a daily occurrence for our engineering department and we are proud that all Harvey products and components are manufactured 'In the U.S.A.'.

DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Systems shall meet the Air Contaminant requirements of 54 Federal Register, 232(1989), 29 CFR Part 1910

PS Floor Fitting: Floor Fitting is plastic, molded from high-temperature resistant polyethylene. Top flange and lid of the lid is cast aluminum 5/16 inch thick having a tensile strength of 35,000 lbs. The lid is attached to the flange with a heavy-gauge, all stainless steel piano hinge. Provided with molded plastic floor fitting, molded plastic pipe saddle, 8 foot length of hose or tubing, tailpipe adapter and hose or tube guide.

Dynamometer, Truck And Heavy Equipment Floor Fitting: Unit consists of a 4-gauge galvanized steel saddle, extension tube, and telescoping body which allows for 4 inch height adjustment. OVERHEAD VEHICLE EXHAUST EXTRACTION SYSTEMS
A.
Exhaust Rail System: Harvey Industries HRX Series Model #HRX-812 Exhaust Duct Rail System.
1.
Rail: Rail is provided in 12 foot standard rail lengths. Custom sizes are available.
a.
Rail is fabricated of a continuous extrusion utilizing high strength aluminum alloy 6063.
b.
Rail is an ellipse shape designed for efficient airflow sized to an equivalent flow space of 8 inches round for heavy duty airflow applications.
c.
The top of the rail is extruded to accept T-Nut hardware for integrated hanging brackets.
d.
All joints shall be double gasketed with two EPDM FCE-45 self stick gaskets cut to the elliptical shape of the cross section of the rail.
e.
Rail joints are pinned with four 3/8 inch hardened steel dowel pins to ensure alignment and rigidity of the assembly.
f.
Connection brackets shall be utilized for a "positive pull" nut and bolt connection system.
2.
Take-Off:
a.
Airflow take-off shall be form fitted to the top of the rail section and sized to accept 8 inch or 10 inch high pressure spiral duct determined by the airflow requirements of the project.
b.
A full slide gate shall be installed between the take-off fitting and spiral duct enabling the installer to balance the system if necessary.
3.
Seals:
a.
Provide with two 70 durometer EPDM rubber seal installed on the bottom of the rail to form a seal around the gliding trolley. The rubber seal shall run the entire length of the rail without any splices or breaks.
4.
Trolley:
a.
HRX Trolley shall be fabricated from 10 gauge steel and continuously welded for strength and airflow sealing properties.
b.
The Trolley shall roll on eight urethane wheels with permanently sealed ball bearings each rated for a 1,000 lb load.
c.
Each trolley shall be fitted with an inlet fitting that will protrude up into the rail assembly splitting the rubber seal as it glides along the rail.
d.
The inlet fitting shall have 15 rollers on either side to ensure smooth operation when the rubber seal seals around the fitting.
e.
Down drop of the trolley assembly shall be constructed to accept a standard TS-30 Telescoping drop, a standard hose assembly with a #3 skyhook pull-up set or a RHR Series Hose Reel.

Telescoping System: Harvey Industries Telescopically Designed Overhead Exhaust Drop with non-crush tubing and adapter. System provided with a carbon spring operated automatically retractable hose reel.

HOSE REEL ASSEMBLIES
A.
RHR-MHR Motorized Hose Reel
1.
Hose Reel Assembly shall be constructed of 12 gauge all steel end panels,16 gauge steel spool and flange with four tie rods bolted in place in eight locations to complete the spool assembly. End panels shall be held in place on a center swivel assembly with two cold curled tie rods fabricated from 12 gauge steel. High temperature high strength aluminum duct shall be used to connect the reel outlet and hose attachment housing enclosed inside the spool of the reel.
2.
Up/down function shall be controlled by a single phase 110 volt industrial grade planetary gear motor. The planetary gear motor shall be directly coupled to reel shaft with spider connection fitting. Chain drive configurations are not acceptable. The drive motor shall be fitted with braking mechanism to prevent hose from unreeling off of the reel when in retracted position. The Reel Assembly shall be equipped with remote indicator to show whether the hose is extended or retracted.
3.
Drive motor shall be controlled by a UL LISTED reversing control panel designed specifically for exhaust hose reel applications. The components shall be enclosed in an enclosure and shall consist of reversing controls, short circuit/thermal protection components and Programmable Microprocessor controlling module. Control panel shall allow for remote reset button configuration. Systems using mechanical limit control shall not be accepted.
4.
Control panel and motor to be completely factory assembled and wired to make a "plug-in" ready to install/operate unit. Field installation and wiring of electrical motor and control panel will not be acceptable. Unit voltage shall be 120V 1-phase.
5.
Hose Reel shall be equipped with 6 inch diameter high temperature (600 degrees F plus) steel helix reinforced tubing of required length. Hose assembly shall be equipped with a stainless steel stack adapter with vise grip.
B.
RHR-DX Hose Reel
1.
Hose Reel Assembly shall be constructed from 12 gauge steel end panels,16 gauge steel spool and flange with four tie rods bolted in place in eight locations to complete the spool assembly. Housing and wheel of the direct drive blower shall be cast from 319 cast aluminum with 3/16 inch wall thickness and shall be AMCA Type B spark resistant. Wheel shall be backward curve and balanced by removal of material only. No additional weights are to be used in the balancing process.
3.
Blower shall be equipped with industrial grade TEFC motor and mounted directly to hose reel outlet with two 12 gauge brackets. A 1/4 inch wall EPDM rubber sleeve shall serve as a flexible connection between the hose reel and blower.
4.
Hose Reel shall be equipped with high temperature (600 degrees F plus wire reinforced silicone/fiberglass tubing. Hose assembly shall be equipped with stainless steel stack adapter, attachment clip and nylon wear sleeve.

Overhead Duct Couplers: Harvey Overhead Duct Couplers simplify installation of overhead rubber drops. One end of the cast aluminum coupler threads into the rubber hose and the other end slips over stub of the ductwork. A bolt through the assembly completes installation of the overhead drop.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
Verification of Conditions: Verify that field measurements, surfaces, substrates and conditions are as required, and ready to receive Work.
C.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
Test for proper operation and adjust until proper operation is achieved.
C.
Before acceptance, conduct a demonstration in the presence of the Owner's representative that all equipment operates properly in every aspect. Conduct a detailed user/operator training session at time and place agreed upon by Owner's representative.
