1.5

PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE

Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.

1.6

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.

Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.

1.7

PROJECT CONDITIONS

Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8

WARRANTY

Manufacturer's Warranties for Air, Hydraulic, Power Assist, and Vertical Dock Levelers.

Limited Parts and Labor Base Warranty: All components under normal use for 1 year beginning on installation completion or 60th day after shipment, whichever is earlier.

Basis of Design: AB series dock leveler as manufactured by Serco. Air-powered platform with automatic lip extension. Supplied assembled with platform, lip, and power unit. Ready to install in pre-formed concrete pit. Grease fittings.

Platform: High tensile steel tread-plate supported by beams welded to front header.

Basis of Design: HD Dock Leveler as manufactured by Serco. Hinged lip, hydraulic platform, lip extension, and retraction. Supplied assembled with platform, lip, power unit, motor, pump, valves, and grease fittings. Ready to install in pre-formed concrete pit.

Standards Compliance: Conforms to ANSI MH14.1-1987.

Platform: 3/8 inch (10 mm) minimum high tensile steel tread plate over I-beam construction. Structural members fully welded to front header.

Lip: High tensile steel tread plate with beveled leading edge.

Thickness: 3/4 inch (19 mm).

When leveler lowers to near working range, approximately 18 inches (457 mm) above dock level, motor stops and platform floats down to rest on truck bed and float with truck movement. Green light illuminates to indicate leveler has reached operating range. If truck departs when lip is extended, leveler descends under hydraulic control and lip falls to pendant position. Pressing the Lip Extend/Lip Retract button will extend or retract lip at any point in leveler cycle. Below-dock level operation allows below-dock endloading with push-button control. Restore leveler by pressing Raise button and holding until platform and lip are in their vertical storing positions. Press Stop button on control panel to remove electrical power from leveler (amber light off).

Basis of Design: Energy Guard as manufactured by Serco. Forms perimeter seal on sides and rear of dock levelers. Blocks debris, insects, and energy loss. Seals gaps between leveler and pit walls. Minimizes energy transfer in and out of facility. Perimeter Seal: Up to 9 inches (229 mm) above dock level during operation. Factory installed on dock leveler.

Side Seal Construction: Chemical resistant, 22 oz. PVC coated, polyester reinforced composite fabric rated to minus 30 degrees F (-1 degrees C) with UV inhibitors and anti-mildew formulation and matte finish.

Operation:

EXECUTION

3.1

EXAMINATION

Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.

If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2

PREPARATION

Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3

INSTALLATION

Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals, and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.

3.4

FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

Field Inspection: Coordinate field inspection in accordance with appropriate sections in Division 01.
