Legrand Shading Systems field configurable shading systems offer design options that support nearly any building shading requirement. This Section includes:
The ES series is a motorized and banded shading solution for single, dual, coupled, and oversized motorized shades. Somfy motors can operate independently with local controls or together with a Wattstopper lighting control system to provide integrated and automated system control with lighting.
The Designer Series (DS) is an open roll (no fascia) shade solution for manual or motorized single and coupled shades. There are two different energy efficient motorized options - DLM or QIS that allow for local control and integration with Legrand lighting control and automation platforms.
The Spec Series (SS) is a fascia shade solution for manual or motorized single, dual, and coupled shades There are two different energy efficient motorized options - DLM or QIS that allow for local control and integration with Legrand lighting control and automation platforms.
Legrand shading is design-first. But it's not a one and done affair. We offer continuous support after tenant move- in through ongoing service contracting with our secure connected services program.

          1.4SUBMITTALS

Shadeband material sample and aluminum finish sample as selected, representing actual product, color, and patterns. Mark face of material to indicate interior faces.

          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in design and manufacturing of manual and motorized shading systems and distributed lighting control systems with a minimum of 25 years documented experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company certified by the Legrand and specializing in installation of networked lighting control products with minimum 3 years documented experience.
 
          C.System Components: Demonstrate that individual components have undergone quality control and testing prior to shipping.
 
          D.NFPA Flame-Test: Passes NFPA 701. Materials tested shall be identical to products proposed for use.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following two paragraph if required for motorized products specified.
 
          E.Motor operators, controls, and controllers shall be certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing laboratory (NRTL) to provide UL or ETL recognized or listed wired AC and DC powered motors and components.
 
          F.Demonstrate that motors operators, controls, and controllers provided can connect to the internet with an acceptable level of security and ensure that that devices that allow for communication between the controls system hierarchy or the internet is certified by ioXt Alliance and listed on the ioXt website's current Certified Product Page under Ecosystem - Network Lighting Controls.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          G.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up of one of each type roller shade assembly specified for evaluation of mounting, appearance and accessories.
          1.Locate mock-up in window(s) designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until mock-up is accepted by Architect.
          3.Approved mockups may become part of the completed Work if undisturbed at time of Substantial Completion.

          1.6PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS
 
          A.Convene minimum two weeks prior to commencing Work of this section. Meeting to be attended by Contractor, Architect, system installer, factory authorized manufacturer's representative, and representative of all trades related to the system installation.
          1.Review installation procedures and coordination required with related Work and the following:
          2.Inspect and make notes of job conditions prior to installation:
 
          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver products in factory packages, marked with manufacturer, product name, and location of installation using same designations indicated on Drawings.
 
          B.Store fabric, tube and motor units flat, on a flat horizontal surface to prevent sagging and deformation/twisting of contents, until ready for installation.
 
          C.Store products in a clean, dry space in original manufacturer's packaging in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions until ready for installation.
 
          1.8SEQUENCING
 
          A.Ensure that locating templates and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          B.Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          1.9PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          B.Do not install shade units until interior painting, wet work, ceilings, window pockets, and mechanical/electrical work above window site is complete before installation.
 
          1.10WARRANTY
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The following paragraph applies only to DS and SS Systems with DLM and QIS motors motors.
 
          A.For all hardware including shade brackets, metal extrusions, and manual clutches: twenty-five (25) years.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The following paragraph applies only to ES System with Somfy motors.
 
          B.For all shade motors, controls, and power supplies manufactured by Others: eight (8) years.
 
          C.For fabrics used as part of the shade system (for interior use only, regardless of whether fabrics are rated for outdoor/exterior use):
          1.Mermet Fabrics:
          a.Mermet GreenScreen fabric: five (5) years
          b.All other Mermet fabrics: ten (10) years
          2.Phifer Fabrics - twenty-five (25) years
          3.All Others - five (5) years

          1.11MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONAL SERVICES
 
          A.Remote Access and Enhanced Warranty for Networked Lighting Controls: Provide Manufacturer's Remote Access and Enhanced Warranty for Networked Lighting and Shading Controls as follows:
          1.Configure to allow the manufacturer remote access to the lighting and shading control system. Configuration includes at a minimum: cellular modem, antenna for the modem, cellular service contract and any connections required to enable communication to the specified Network Lighting and Shading Control system.
          2.Remote Access program will automatically trigger a First Year Enhanced Warranty Agreement that will start once lighting and shading control system startup is complete and accepted by the Owner. During this one year period, the Owners authorized site contact can request the manufacturer to check the system for proper operation, and make any programmable changes desired. Manufacturer shall provide a phone number dedicated to customer calls concerning Remote Accessible systems, and a support organization capable of enabling cellular communication to the system for troubleshooting and making requested changes to the system. Any user attempting to request remote support on the system shall be fully verified by the Remote Operations Center (ROC) before providing remote support or making any changes to the system. Systems that allow the modem to be always accessible will not be acceptable. Access must be by a secured VPN connection to the private lighting control network that is completely isolated from the Owner's internal network. Remote access that requires a connection through the Owner's internal network is not acceptable.
          3.Remote Access Program may be continued by the Owner after the first year. However, If the Owner does not continue the enhanced warranty the cellular contract will lapse, and all hardware components, while still remaining property of the Owner, will remain in situ so that they can be re-activated at a later time should the Owner desire.
          4.Manufacturer's Remote Access capability shall provide at a minimum the following features:
          a.Ability to provide initial system diagnostics through LMCS Software to detect fault conditions in hardware or connected devices.
          b.Access to all devices via LMCS Software allowing for programmability of device features. This will include all scheduling of Time of Day Events and programming of individual device parameters to meet Sequence of Operation requirements.
          c.Access to the LMSM Segment Manager browser-based interface (if included on project) to verify it is setup per project documentation, and all functional operations are working properly.
          d.On demand access to manufacturer technical support via a Remote Operations Center (ROC) that will provide remote troubleshooting, diagnostics, and configuration/programming assistance.
          e.Additional client training and tuning on the Lighting and Shading Control System after building occupancy can be performed while remotely connected to the site.
          f.Remote Site Readiness Check (SRC) which allows the Remote Operations Center to perform a remote discovery of all devices connected to the lighting and shading control network during installation. DLM Networked projects that have a RACCESS cellular modem and have successfully completed the Site Readiness Check (SRC) process will receive priority scheduling (a SRC is considered successful if 80% or more of the networked devices are found on the network during discovery). After the scheduled on-site startup, all manufacturer provided startup work for a site with a successful SRC will be done remotely, or via later complimentary return trips.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include the following optional paragraphs ONLY if "Remote Access and Enhanced Warranty for Networked Lighting and Shading Controls" is specified above. Delete entirely if not required.
 
          B.Technology-Enabled Service Contract: The manufacturer of the Lighting and Shading Control System shall provide a service contract for continued support of the system post installation that combines secure yet immediately accessible remote support with the backup assurance of onsite support when necessary. The coverage levels and features of the selected service contract would apply immediately upon completion of startup and supersede any enhanced remote support offered by the manufacturer during the first year after startup.
          1.Technology-enabled service contract requires a RACCESS (Remote Access) secure cellular connection that allows the manufacturer remote access to the lighting control system to provide remote troubleshooting, diagnostics, and configuration/programming assistance. Manufacturer shall ensure provision of a cellular service plan that keeps the modem active through the chosen Technology-Enabled Service Contract's duration.
          2.If the customer does not renew the Service Contract at the end of the contract term, the cellular service plan will lapse, and all hardware components will remain in situ so that they can be re-activated later should the customer desire.
          3.Technology-Enabled Service Contract Specifics
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select one of the following paragraphs a. or b. below and delete the one not required.
          a.Provide a complete "Connect Plus" Service Contract that includes the following features:
          1)Priority access to manufacturer technical support via a Remote Operations Center
          2)A complete system backup of LMCS and Segment Manager software files semi-annually
          3)Semi-annual Device Health Checks to identify any devices that have been bypassed, disconnected, or not functioning with recommendations for resolution
          4)An annual onsite training session by a certified factory-trained technician

          2)A complete system backup of LMCS and Segment Manager software files quarterly
          3)Quarterly Device Health Checks to identify any devices that have been bypassed, disconnected, or not functioning with recommendations for resolution
          4)Semi-annual onsite training sessions by a certified factory-trained technician
          5)Quarterly system tuning visits to optimize the lighting configuration, fine tune the Sequence of Operations or make programming changes to the system
          6)A next day onsite response time for unscheduled emergency visits provided by factory-trained technicians
          4.Length of Technology-Enabled Service Contract:

The ES series is a motorized and banded shading solution for single, dual, coupled, and oversized motorized shades. The ES series hardware provides a series of different sized brackets and coupler combinations that allow for standalone and coupled shades for straight, curved, or even 90 degree windows for nearly any sized shade. The ES facia system is independent from the brackets that allows for fascia alignment regardless of bracket placement needs. There is an additional raceway system that allows for vented pocket installations. The Somfy motors can operate independently with local controls or together with a Wattstopper lighting control system to provide integrated and automated system control with lighting.
 
          2.2ES MOTORIZED POWERED ROLLER SHADES
 
          A.Legrand ES Motorized Shades System: Quiet motorized family of roller shades, brackets, tubes, specialized mounting brackets; couplers, fascia and closure, side channels, pockets, motors, and related components/accessories.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Manufacturer offers motorized roller shades in three product families, 4 inch, 5 inch, and 6 inch, to cover windows of varying sizes, usage of different shadeband fabric with associated weight, and to allow for usage of either a single shade mounted on one bracket or double shades using sunscreen and opaque (blackout) in one assembly. Select the paragraphs for the shade system, fabric types and configurations indicated on the Drawings and delete those that are not applicable.
 
          B.Product Types and Maximum Sizes: Provide shade product family, type and maximum sizes applicable to the products specified and indicated on the Drawing. Height and width limitations shall be as follows:
          1.Single Roller Shade Bracket:
          a.4 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 130 inches (330 cm) by 120 inch height (304.8 cm) when using Polyester shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          b.4 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 130 inches (330 cm) by 200 inch height (508 cm) when using Opaque (blackout) shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          c.4 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 130 inches (330 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Fiberglass shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          d.5 and 6 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 300 inch height (762 cm) when using Polyester shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          e.5 and 6 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 400 inch height (1016 cm) when using Opaque (blackout) shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          f.5 and 6 inch shade system capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 360 inch height (914.4 cm) when using Fiberglass shade band fabric material as a single roller shade on one bracket.
          2.Double Shade Bracket:
          a.Special double shade bracket for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 120 inches (304.8 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Polyester shade band fabric material on a double shade bracket.
          b.Special double shade bracket for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 120 inches (304.8 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Opaque (blackout) shade band fabric material on a double shade bracket.
          c.Special double shade bracket for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 120 inches (304.8 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Fiberglass shade band fabric material on a double shade bracket.
          3.Two Single Shade Brackets for Double Shade Installation
          a.Special two single brackets for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Polyester shade band fabric material mounted on two single shade brackets installed for double shades.
          b.Special two single brackets for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Opaque (blackout) shade band fabric material mounted on two single shade brackets installed for double shades.
          c.Special two single brackets used for the two families of 4 inch, 5 and 6 inch shade systems capable of supporting a maximum width of 175 inches (444.5 cm) by 150 inch height (381 cm) when using Fiberglass shade band fabric material mounted on two single shade brackets installed for double shades.
 
          C.Operation:
          1.Motorized operation of a roller shade within the shade tube and shade assembly shall include a drive system controlled by a motor with specified controls for remote operation of the shade with a quiet operation less than 38 dba at three feet and be operated via line-voltage power supplied by branch circuits located near the top of the window. Communication with the motor is intended to be either via data wiring using different protocols or remote controlled via RF signals. The actual motor selected is based on control criteria, sizing of window, weight of fabric, project requirements for large shades, and/or need for quiet operation. Control shall allow for single shade or groups of shades to be operated remotely with customizable stopping points besides full up and down. Shade versatility options shall include: interconnection to different control systems such as third-party manufacturers' control/integration systems, building automation systems for increasing energy efficiency and occupant comfort; lighting control systems, wall switches, and/or handheld remotes as required by project Architect. Manufacturer shall provide line voltage motors with sufficient lifting capacity for specified shade and capable of either Dry-Contact, RS 485, or RF control to meet project requirements
 
          D.Assembly:
          1.Provide field assembled shade tube and shade assembly consisting of end brackets, appropriately sized motor installed as required, shade tube, extruded aluminum fascia, hembar, shade fabric material, regular or reverse roll of shade material, and attachment brackets for on-site installation.
          2.Attachment Brackets: Provide with a variety of conventional and specialty brackets to match the different sizes of shade series within the motorized shade family. Provide roller shade assembly ready for installation using attachment brackets to match motor drive selection. Provide with brackets sized for either the 4 inch series or the 5 and 6 inch series of roller shades. Specialty brackets for unique installations and monumental shades and blackout channels for blackout shades shall also be available.
          a.Motor and Idler End Brackets shall be available to allow for Left or Right motor drive installation. Each bracket plate to be fabricated from punched steel and have slotted mounting holes for allowance of up to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) adjustability. Bracket plate shall be the same size for motor and idler end and be available in two sizes, one for the 4 inch roller shade series and other bracket sized for the 5 and 6 inch family of roller shade series.
          b.Adjustable Idler End Bracket shall allow for mechanical adjustment of the idler depth from 0 to 3/4 inch (19.05 mm) increments to allow for unique installation situations. The adjustable idler end bracket shall be available for Left or Right applications and offered in two sizes, one for the 4 inch roller shade series and other bracket sized for the 5 and 6 inch roller shade series.
          c.Coupler Brackets shall allow for linking together two separate roller shades, so that one motor could lift the two shades. The coupler bracket shall be engineered to be used for additional linkages, so that a maximum of 6 shades may be powered from one motor. Each coupler bracket plate to be fabricated from punched steel and have slotted mounting holes for allowance of up to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) adjustability. Coupler bracket shall have a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) vertical adjustment for installation flexibility in minimizing light gaps and insuring alignment across the two shades being linked by the axle within the coupler bracket. Total adjustment of light gap offered shall be up to 3/4 inch to compensate for unique installations. Coupler bracket shall be available in two sizes, one for the 4 inch roller shade series and other bracket sized for the 5 and 6 inch roller shade series. The coupler bracket shall be available for single or double roller shade combinations.
          d.Corner Mount Bracket with 90 Degree Coupler Bracket shall be offered as standard product by roller shade manufacturer to accommodate roller shade installation at intersection of two elevations. Steel bracket shall also have a mechanical adjustment of up to 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) lateral and 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) vertical adjustment for installation flexibility in minimizing light gaps and insuring alignment across the two shades being linked by the axle within the coupler bracket. Coupler brackets shall be available in two sizes, for the 4 inch roller shade series and the 5 and 6 inch roller shade series. Flexible coupler bracket shall be available for single or double roller shade combinations.
          e.Flexible Axle Coupler Bracket is offered as standard product by the manufacturer to accommodate roller shade installation covering window and wall curves, of not more than 45 Degrees. Steel bracket shall have a mechanical adjustment of up to 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) lateral and 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) vertical adjustment for installation flexibility in minimizing light gaps and insuring alignment across the two shades being linked by the axle within the coupler bracket. Coupler bracket shall be available in two sizes, for the 4 inch roller shade series and the 5 and 6 inch roller shade series. Flexible coupler bracket is available for single or double roller shade combinations.
          f.End brackets shall accept matching fascia end plates with attachment by mechanical capture feature and via fasteners without the use of adhesive tape or only clipping in place.
 
          E.Shade Tube: Extruded T5 6005 aluminum shade tube is 1/16 inch (1.52 mm) thick, complete with continuous screw fins 3/16 inch (4.82 mm) high, for strength. Fins shall be spaced equidistant on tube and placed according to the weight and sizing characteristics necessary for the intended shade to be supported. Manufacturer shall select tube with sufficient thickness and diameter size so deflection caused by weight of shade material and shade size is not visible and good performance is assured.
 
          F.Fascia and end caps: Extruded T6 6063 or 6360 aluminum fascia with front towards room interior, shall be 1/16 inch (1.7 mm) thick, complete with two continuous screw flutes, anodized, powder coated or custom painted. Fascia shall be suitable for regular or reverse roll. Reverse fascia towards window, is available as an option.
          1.Fascia is offered in 4 inch (101.6 mm), 5 inch (127 mm), or 6 inch (152.4 mm) sizes.
          2.All Fascia varieties shall be fabricated to be joined into different combinations up to 12 inches (304.8 mm). Facia is fabricated so the bottom of one piece aligns with the top of another piece to allow for a separate pre-manufactured joiner to securely connect the two single pieces into one fascia panel along the entire length of the segment. Architect shall specify the height of fascia up to 12 inches (304.8 mm) when using joined fascia pieces.
          3.Provide with special fascia hangers for the roller shade families to support all available fascia sizes. Hangers shall be fabricated to allow for ceiling or wall surface installation and enable fascia to be securely attached via #8 3/4 inch (19.05 mm) screws.
          4.Provide fascia end caps in varying sizes to fit both the 4 inch and the 5 and 6 inch series roller shades. Fascia end caps shall be available in 4 inch (101.6 mm), 5 inch (127 mm), 6 inch (152.4 mm), 8 inch (203.2 mm), 10 inch (254 mm), and 12 inch (304.8 mm) varieties.
          5.Attachment of fascia is to be two-part process: first, a friction fit of fascia into fabric, tube and motor shade unit, then step two is mechanical by a hidden/concealed screw lock-down of fascia to bracket. Fascia shall be secured by #8, 3/4 inch (19.05 mm) screws to the roller shade bracket. Fascia end caps shall be available and manufactured from T6 6063 or 6360 aluminum and fabricated via a press fit and a secure mechanical (screw) fastener.

          H.Shadeband Material Attachment: Attach shadeband material to roller shade tube in factory. Manufacturer shall have capability for attachment via double sided tape for insuring shadeband material lays flat, or by hidden spline with lightweight small profile plastic extrusion attached to shadeband material and inserted into a groove machined into roller tube. Selection of attachment method can be determined by Specifier preference or depending on project requirements and size of finished shade fabric, tube and motor units. All finished shades must be fabricated with one complete wrap of material, minimum to cover the attachment of the shade and material to the shade tube. This wrap length will vary due to size of shade and size of tube and factory assembly conditions.
 
          I.Closure for pockets. Provide a matching trim plate of finished T6 6063 aluminum, to conceal most of the opening of the roller shade. Closure will be attached to the fascia via a secure continuous overlap/underlap fabricated groove. Closures are available for attachment to all fascia options offered by manufacturer. Manufacturer to offer width of closure based upon single or dual shade and regular or reverse roll as specified. Provide with connector plates to butt seams of closures together for tight and secure fit. Closure shall have a specific location for routing and attaching low-voltage cabling and plastic "zip" cable tie hold downs for effective cable management, when motorized shades are utilized.           1.AC Line Voltage Motors: AC Line Voltage Sonesse Intelligent Motor by Somfy Systems. Provide tubular, asynchronous motor, built in reversible capacitor, brushless 110V AC (60 Hz) single-phase motor, thermally protected, permanently lubricated gearbox, maintenance free, providing a range of torque lifting capacity from a minimum of 4Nm to a maximum of 35Nm. Motors must have embedded microprocessor-based controller and onboard serial communications port.
          2.DC Low Voltage Motors: DC Low Voltage Sonesse Intelligent Motor by Somfy Systems. Provide tubular, thermally protected, permanently lubricated gearbox, maintenance free, minimum of 2Nm torque lifting capacity, must fit in a minimum tube diameter of 31mm. Motors must have embedded microprocessor-based controller and onboard serial communications port.
          3.Motor Characteristics:
          a.Motor lifting capacity shall be a minimum of 2Nm torque or greater for low voltage motors and a minimum of 4 Nm torque or greater for line voltage motors without the need for any external mechanical components (springs).
          b.Intelligent motors shall be available in both AC line voltage and DC low voltage power options, with wired and wireless communication options.
          c.Intelligent motors shall be rated for both interior and exterior applications.
          d.Each motor shall come equipped with a customizable length of power and communication wire featuring an optional disconnect plug.
          e.Each motor shall be compatible with industry standard hardware. Motor must be adaptable to varying tube diameters with snap-on adapters. Motors shall be field- interchangeable that can come out of the tube and replaced in opposite end of tube to easily adapt to wire locations.
          f.Digital encoder delivering precise alignment of plus or minus 2 mm accuracy.
          1)Systems using a "time function" for positioning are not acceptable.
          g.Operating sound level from 3 feet away rated at 44 dBA or better.
          h.Each motor shall have the ability to set 16 unique stopping points that are electronically set and locked into non-volatile memory.
          i.Each motor shall be capable of being positioned at fully-up, fully-down or any position between 0-100 percent in 0.5 percent increments.
          j.Each motor shall be UL, CUL recognized, and meet CSA standards.
          k.Each motor's electrical components shall be tested to withstand a 15 kV electrostatic discharge without damage or loss of memory.
          l.Motors shall have factory-assigned individual unique addresses and can be individually
          m.configurable over the network without needing to physically access motor.
          n.Motor shall have an onboard communication port for bi-directional communication
          o.allowing for status updates, configuration and operation from a PC with the applicable system software.
          p.Each motor shall accept 16-user configurable group addresses that are electronically stored and locked into non-volatile memory.
 
          L.Shade Drive Assembly: Factory installed motor, pre-tested, and with limits preset. Motors of different lifting capacity shall be available depending on shade material weight and size of window to be covered. Other shade motor drive assembly features include:
          1.Motor is placed inside a tube with all appropriate drive attachments and brackets so as to be a part of a complete fabric, tube and motor unit that is assembled in factory, inspected, tested, motor limits set, and shipped complete, ready for installation into the two attachment brackets fastened to building structure.
          2.Motor family is a line voltage, 120VAC, 60 Hz powered type featuring quiet operation of less than 38dbA at three feet. Operation to be free of clicks and gear sounds during operation.
          3.Motors have upper and limit presets with ability to be set by either: buttons on the motor if Dry-contact control capable, a limit setting device connected to motor if RS 485 capable and via handheld remote if RF controlled capable.
          4.Motors have programmable intermediate shade positions allowing for customized and matching stop points of shade stored into memory.
          5.Motors incorporate an encoder-based drive for precise positioning.
          6.Motors have a built-in thermal limit protection of four minutes.
          7.Motors have an IP 31 interior use rating and can operate within a temperature range of 32 degrees F to 140 degrees F (0 degrees C to 60 degrees C).
          8.RF controlled motors shall be SOMFY RTS type and have antenna built-into power cord, without use of external connection.
          9.Dry-contact and RS 485 capable motors have a small connector on motor head for connection to control networks.
          10.Motors shall have a power cord factory installed and integral to the tubular UL listed and tested motor.
          11.Manufacturer shall provide standard power lead lengths with factory installed connectors and options for customizable lengths and different power connectors.
          12.Motors shall be able to be installed left or right drive, inside shade tube

Control options may include direct-wired control via switches, single shade control or multiple shade control via hard-wired switches, timer and light sensor control; integration with third-party manufacturer control or audio-visual systems via RS-232/RS-485, interconnection with Building Automation Systems and Lighting Control Systems via BACnet, and direct operation with other Legrand products.           M.Control of Shades:
          1.User Interface hard-wired switches:
          a.Hard-wired switches shall fit standard decorator type paddle switch plates and fit standard type junction boxes.
          b.Hard-wired switch shall have four buttons, an up, down, and preset 1 customizable and preset 2 customizable. The two preset buttons shall be customizable, though factory preset is for 33% and 65% of shade height based on lower limit.
          c.Hard-wired switch shall be available in White, and Ivory colors.

          G.DLM Motors
          1.Description: DLM motors are self-configuring digital devices incorporating both a wired connection and wireless Bluetooth low energy technology built-in for a variety of control options. The DLM shade motors have a unique counter-balance spring design that allows shade to use less energy and for extremely quiet operation. This patented design also allows the shades to be manually pulled into position using the hembar. The low motors are powered by 24-36VDC coming from the DLM room controller power supply and there are a number of wired switch options for control of the shades.
          2.Operation: DLM shades motors have two different gear ratios to support shades of different sizes. The 40:1 gear ratio motor (LMSH-MCA140) are used on smaller shades and the 73:1 gear ratio motors (LMSH-MCA173) are required for larger and coupled shades. Each shade motor uses a counter-balance spring designed specifically for the weight of the shade and motor type. The motor and spring assembly shall be specified and tested by the factory. When using Plug n' Go (PnG) operation the MCA (motor control assemblies) will automatically join the network, set a default upper and lower shade limit, and be assigned to any shade switches on the project. These settings can be customized later by using the Push n' Learn (PnL) and Pull n' Save (PnS) procedures found in shade controller power supply or shade switch installation instructions. The automated start up procedures are designed to save installation and startup time by defaulting to a default initial system configuration based on installed components.

          5.DLM-Based Low Voltage Wall Switches:
          a.Description: LMSH Series Wall Switches are self configuring digital low voltage devices for manual control of DLM based shades from one or more locations. They are part of a Digital Lighting Management (DLM) system and can control any shade motors connected to DLM shade room controllers. Motors and power supplies are connected using a four-wire shade bus with pre-configured cables and simple to configure bus system. The switches are connect using standard DLM in-room-bus (IRB) RJ45 cables for foolproof installation.
          b.Operation: Switches operate on Class 2 power supplied to a DLM local network by one or more shade room controllers. The switches send a digital signal for shade control whenever a pushbutton is pressed by a user. Plug n' Go (PnG) automatic configuration assigns all shade to the switch buttons upon system startup. In addition, shade default upper and lower limits are assigned during PnG. There are two additional programming procedures that allow for customization of the motorized shade system - Press n' Learn allows for switch button assignments and functions to be reconfigured and Press n' Save allows the installer to change the shade upper and lower limits.

          H.Connection When Using A DLM Shade Control System
          1.The LMSH-PS6xx shade controllers use a 4-wire shade bus for power and control of shades and a DLM IRB network using Cat5e for connection to wall switches and other shade power supplies. Legrand offers preterminated cable assemblies for both the shade bus and local IRB network for plug and play in a single room or area.
          2.Install room controllers so that switch and shade bus wire bus limits are not exceeded. The shade bus limit is 1000 ft. (no motor should be more than 500 ft. from shade controller and the DLM bus limit is 1000 ft.).
          3.If connected to an LMSH-PS602 shade room controller, a single shade can connect directly to the controller. To connect a second shade, use the LMSH-SBE4 Shade Bus Extender or splitter.
          4.If connected to an LMSH-PS610 shade room controller, two shades can connect directly to the controller. To connect additional shades (up to 10 total), use the LMSH-SBE4 Shade Bus Extender or splitter.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include the following paragraphs for QIS motors and shade control systems, as applicable. Delete if not applicable.
 
          I.QIS Shade Drive Assembly: Factory installed motor, pre-tested, and with limits preset. Motors of different lifting capacity shall be available depending on shade material weight and size of window to be covered. Other shade motor drive assembly features include:
          1.Motor is inside a tube with special springs as part of a complete shade cassette unit that is assembled in factory, inspected, tested, motor limits set, and shipped complete, ready for installation into the two attachment brackets fastened to building structure.
          2.Motor is a DC type featuring quiet operation of less than38dbA at three feet.
          3.Motors have digital bidirectional communication.
          4.Motors have 98 programmable intermediate shade positions allowing for customized and matching stop points of shade.
          5.Motors incorporate an encoder-based drive for precise positioning within plus or minus 1/16 inch (1.59 mm).
          6.Motor power supply shall be 24 VDC.
          7.Motor limits shall be electronic and not manual type.
          8.Motor shall utilize 24 AWG Cat5e or Cat6 for shade power and communications in one cable.
          9.Shades standard with a 6 inch (152.4 mm) pre-assembled connector in any gender. Optional lengths of connector wire shall include 4 inches (101.6 mm) or 35 inches (0.889 M).
          10.Motors shall be able to be installed left or right drive, inside shade tube.
          11.Motors are not damaged when a user "pulls down" on shade hembar when power or control is not engaged.
          12.Shade cassette system shall enable the user to send shade all the way open, all the way down, or to stop at a fixed position via a prescribed sequence of "tugs" or pulling on the hembar without damaging the motor, drive, brackets or roller shade. In addition, the system shall enable an installer to set lower and upper limits, or return to a master reset of the shade to default upper and lower limits.
 
          J.Power and communication panels:
          1.All low voltage motors are interconnected via 24 AWG Cat5e or Cat6 cabling providing for both power and control within a single cable.
          2.Provide a tested and designed system capable of supporting a distance between power and communication panel and shades of up to 750 feet (228.6 m) for the farthest shade. Maximum distance between a power and communication panel and a hard-wired switch shall be limited to 1,000 feet (304.8 M). System shall utilize industry standard type RJ-45 connectors and straight thru wiring with no crossing of conductors at different cable ends.
          3.Power and communication panel shall be able to power eight shades with a DC output of 24 VDC, 7.5 Amps. AC input requirements shall be 100-200 Volts at approximately 2.5 Amps via separate power supply connected to the power and communication panel. Associated low-voltage motors shall not require any other AC power supply or transformer for DC power, along the network or at the shade motor location.
          4.Panels shall be able to be joined together daisy-chain style, RS-485 to control more shades, switches, and zones. Twelve separate panels shall be able to be connected together for control of 96 shades.
          5.Interconnection to building management systems, automated lighting systems, third party manufacturers, and other Legrand systems for daylight integration and lighting control shall be seamless and effected by RS-485, RS-232, BACnet, or Dry Contact protocols and parameters.
          6.Shade motors shall offer individual addressing to facilitate usage with systems manufactured by others via RS485 and BACnet. protocols
          7.Panel shall be controlled by a hard-wired switch for simplified user control and interfacing.
          8.Provide a special cable adapter for those installations where utilization of a two-wire cabling system is required. System shall provide power
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** There are numerous methods to control motorized shades and a variety of motors. Control options may include direct-wired control via switches, single shade control or multiple shade control via hard-wired switches, timer and light sensor control; integration with third-party manufacturer control or audio-visual systems via RS-232/RS-485, interconnection with Building Automation Systems and Lighting Control Systems via BACnet, and direct operation with other Legrand products specified in Section 26 09 43.           K.Control of Shades:
          1.User Interface hard-wired switches:
          2.Hard-wired switches shall fit standard decorator type paddle switch plates and fit standard type junction boxes.
          a.Hard-wired switch shall have four buttons, an up, down, and preset 1 customizable and preset 2 customizable. The two preset buttons shall be customizable, though factory preset is for 33% and 65% of shade height based on lower limit.
          b.Hard-wired switch shall be available in White, Light Ivory, Ivory, Gray, and Black colors.
          3.Automated Lighting Control System with Features as specified in Section 26 09 43 - Architectural Lighting Controls System for lighting integration into digital shading systems
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The Spec Series (SS) is a fascia shade solution for manual or motorized single, dual, and coupled shades. There are brackets for any mounting application and also bottom load brackets for pockets. Custom extruded pockets are available for all sized shades supported by SS brackets. The fascia system is clipped on to the brackets for easy installation. System is for small to medium width shades up to 156 inches. The ES fascia can be used in place of the SS fascia for more customized fascia needs. There are two different energy efficient motorized options - DLM or QIS that allow for local control and integration with Legrand lighting control and automation platforms.

          G.DLM Motors
          1.Description: DLM motors are self-configuring digital devices incorporating both a wired connection and wireless Bluetooth low energy technology built-in for a variety of control options. The DLM shade motors have a unique counter-balance spring design that allows shade to use less energy and for extremely quiet operation. This patented design also allows the shades to be manually pulled into position using the hembar. The low motors are powered by 24-36VDC coming from the DLM room controller power supply and there a number of wired switch options for control of the shades.
          2.Operation: DLM shades motors have two different gear ratios to support shades of different sizes. The 40:1 gear ratio motor (LMSH-MCA140) are used on smaller shades and the 73:1 gear ratio motors (LMSH-MCA173) are required for larger and coupled shades. Each shade motor uses a counter-balance spring designed specifically for the weight of the shade and motor type. The motor and spring assembly shall be specified and tested by the factory. When using Plug n' Go (PnG) operation the MCA (motor control assemblies) will automatically join the network, set a default upper and lower shade limit, and be assigned to any shade switches on the project. These settings can be customized later by using the Push n' Learn (PnL) and Pull n' Save (PnS) procedures found in shade controller power supply or shade switch installation instructions. The automated start up procedures are designed to save installation and startup time by defaulting to a default initial system configuration based on installed components.

          a.Description: LMSH Series Wall Switches are self configuring digital low voltage devices for manual control of DLM based shades from one or more locations. They are part of a Digital Lighting Management (DLM) system and can control any shade motors connected to DLM shade room controllers. Motors and power supplies are connected using a four-wire shade bus with pre-configured cables and simple to configure bus system. The switches are connect using standard DLM in-room-bus (IRB) RJ45 cables for foolproof installation.
          b.Operation: Switches operate on Class 2 power supplied to a DLM local network by one or more shade room controllers. The switches send a digital signal for shade control whenever a pushbutton is pressed by a user. Plug n' Go (PnG) automatic configuration assigns all shade to the switch buttons upon system startup. In addition, shade default upper and lower limits are assigned during PnG. There are two additional programming procedures that allow for customization of the motorized shade system - Press n' Learn allows for switch button assignments and functions to be reconfigured and Press n' Save allows the installer to change the shade upper and lower limits.

          H.Connection When Using A DLM Shade Control System
          1.The LMSH-PS6xx shade controllers use a 4-wire shade bus for power and control of shades and a DLM IRB network using Cat5e for connection to wall switches and other shade power supplies. Legrand offers preterminated cable assemblies for both the shade bus and local IRB network for plug and play in a single room or area.
          2.Install room controllers so that switch and shade bus wire bus limits are not exceeded. The shade bus limit is 1000 ft. (no motor should be more than 500 ft. from shade controller and the DLM bus limit is 1000 ft.
          3.If connected to an LMSH-PS602 shade room controller, a single shade can connect directly to the controller. To connect a second shade, use the LMSH-SBE4 Shade Bus Extender or splitter.
          4.If connected to an LMSH-PS610 shade room controller, two shades can connect directly to the controller. To connect additional shades (up to 10 total), use the LMSH-SBE4 Shade Bus Extender or splitter.

          10.Motors shall be able to be installed left or right drive, inside shade tube.

In addition, the system shall enable an installer to set lower and upper limits, or return to a master reset of the shade to default upper and lower limits.
 
          J.Connection When Using A QIS And Architectural Dimming Shade Control System
          1.The Qadvanced Intelligent System (QIS) Power and Communication Panel provides power and control for hardwired low voltage QIS shade motors. The shade motors, switches and power panels are inter-connected using easy to wire Cat 5e wiring (not POE).
          2.Use the RJ45 ports to connect a combined total of 8 shades or wall switches to a single panel. QIS power panels can be connected to Legrand automation or other third party systems for control of shades via an RS485. A total of 8 power panels can be connected together to create a distributed network of shades and controls.
 
          2.5SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL
 
          A.Motor Manufacturer Factory Quality Control Process:

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
