          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with a minimum 5 years documented experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company experienced in the installation of the type of construction involved and the materials and techniques specified with minimum 5 years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.
 
          C.Source Limitations: Provide fence system and gates, as a complete unit produced by a single manufacturer, including necessary erection accessories, fittings and fastenings.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete requirement for field quality control by manufacturer's technical specialist if not required.
 
          D.Field Quality Control: To be conducted by manufacturer's technical specialist.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up on might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          E.Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
          1.Intent of mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
          2.If mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
          3.Retain mock-up during construction as standard for comparison with completed work.

          1.6PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
 
          A.Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Contractor, installer, manufacturer's representative and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.
 
          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's original, unopened pallets and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.
 
          B.Deliver fence materials, gates, posts, and accessories to project site, completely pre-finished. Upon receipt at the job site, all materials shall be checked to ensure that no damages occurred during shipping.
 
          C.Handle fence components to protect finish coating from any scuffs, abrasion or other damage during unloading and installation. Excessive damage to factory applied coatings will be cause for rejection.
 
          D.Handle and store materials in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations, protected from theft and damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.
 
          1.8PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
 
          1.9WARRANTY
 
          A.Manufacturer's Warranty: Provide manufacturer's standard limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship as follows.

          4.Film Hardness, ASTM D3363: Minimum 2H hardness as measured by pencil test.
          5.Solar Concentration Exposure, ASTM D4141: Coating must test to a minimum of 50 percent gloss retention at 1400 MJ per sq m, with no film failure, chalking, cracking or checking and no more than 10 percent fading as measured by Conducting Black Box and Solar Concentrating Exposures of Coatings Test, Method C (equivalent to EMMAQUA NTW).
          6.Film Thickness, ASTM G12: 2.0 mils (0.05 mm); 2 - 4 mils (0.05 - 0.1 mm) as measured by manufacturer's powder coat measurement and inspection procedures.
          7.Flexibility, ASTM D1737: No breaks, flakes or cracks on Q-panel 5B; 100 percent adhesion to the substrate.

          12.Pretreatment: Fence sheeting and framework prepared and cleaned using 7 stage Zinc Phosphate wash line; removes foreign material and prepares the surface to comply with requirements of coating systems as specified above.
          13.Curing: Heat cure in accordance with powder manufacturer's prescribed cure schedule to crosslink and bond finish to metal substrate.
          14.Chemical Resistance, ASTM B117:
          a.Procedure to Test Corrosion Resistance:
          1)Preparation of Test Specimens: Perform a single scribe the length of the specimen, within 1 inch (25 mm) of any edge and deep enough to expose the base metal.
          2)Expose specimen for 1000 hrs according to ASTM B117 using 5 percent salt solution and 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) operational temperature.
          3)After exposure, remove specimens and wipe dry; immediately apply tape (Permacel 99 or equal) over scribed are by pressing down firmly against the coating; sharply pull tape off at a right angle to surface being tested.
          b.Performance: Minimum of 7 on the scribed edge and minimum blister rating of eight within the test specimen field in accordance with tables in ASTM D1654.
 
          I.Concrete Footings: Complying with ACI 301 for cast-in-place concrete.
          1.Portland Cement: Complying with ASTM C150.
          2.Aggregates: Complying with ASTM C33.
          3.Water: Potable.
          4.Concrete Mixes: Normal-weight concrete air entrained.
          a.Compressive Strength, 28 days: Over 3000 psi (20.7 MPa).
          b.Slump: 3 inches (75 mm).

          2.3WELDED WIRE FENCES AND GATES (Prism 3-D Series)
 
          A.Basis of Design: Prism 3-D Series Fence Systems as manufactured by Betafence.

          1.Design Requirements: Fencing system, foundation and installation engineered to withstand 90 mph wind load.
          2.Panels and Posts: Shipped from factory pre-cut to lengths as scheduled and indicated on Drawings.
          3.Panel Width: Standard panel is 8.2 ft (2500 mm) wide.

          2.Wire Tensile Strength: 70000 psi (483 MPa) minimum.
          3.Wire Break Strength: 2100 lbs (952 kg) minimum.
          4.Vertical Wires of Mesh: Extend 1 inch (25 mm) from the last or first horizontal wire thereby creating a spiked top or bottom, depending on position when installed.

          7.Curing: Heat cure in accordance with powder manufacturer's prescribed cure schedule to crosslink and bond finish to metal substrate.
          8.Chemical Resistance, ASTM B117:
          a.Procedure to Test Corrosion Resistance:
          1)Preparation of Test Specimens: Perform a single scribe the length of the specimen, within 1 inch (25 mm) of any edge and deep enough to expose the base metal.
          2)Expose specimen for 1000 hrs according to ASTM B117 using 5 percent salt solution and 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) operational temperature.
          3)After exposure, remove specimens and wipe dry; immediately apply tape (Permacel 99 or equal) over scribed are by pressing down firmly against the coating; sharply pull tape off at a right angle to surface being tested.
          b.Performance:
          1)ASTM D1654: The required is minimum of seven on the scribed edge.
          2)ASTM D714: Minimum blister rating of eight on unscribed.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** This section shall be superseded by requirements of anti-ram barrier system if used in conjunction with this installation. Modify or delete as required.
 
          G.Concrete Footings: Complying with ACI 301 for cast-in-place concrete.
          1.Portland Cement: Complying with ASTM C150.
          2.Aggregates: Complying with ASTM C33.
          3.Water: Potable.
          4.Concrete Mixes: Normal-weight concrete air entrained.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Verify areas to receive fencing. Do not proceed with preparation or installation until unacceptable conditions have been corrected have been prepared using the methods recommended by the manufacturer and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.
 
          B.If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.
 
          3.2INSTALLATION
 
          A.Installation of Fences and Gates: Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals and in proper relationship with adjacent construction at locations indicated on the Drawings.
          1.Install gates level, plumb, and secure for full opening without interference. Attach hardware using tamper-resistant or concealed means. Install ground-set items in concrete for anchorage. Adjust gate to operate smoothly, easily, and quietly throughout entire operational range. Confirm that latches and locks engage accurately and securely without forcing or binding.
          2.Install fencing to withstand wind load as specified.
          3.Space posts at dimensions indicated on Drawings.
          4.Attach fence rails to posts using panel hanger brackets or nylon face mount brackets supplied by manufacturer.
          5.Handle fence components to protect finish coating from any scuffs, abrasion or other damage during installation. Excessive damage to factory applied coatings will be cause for rejection.
          6.Avoid unnecessary cutting, drilling and welding of pre-finished fence components. If necessary to cut drill, weld or otherwise modify product due to field conditions.
          7.Field welding of panels to posts is unacceptable as it will cause significant damage to the galvanizing and powder coat protective finishes.
 
          B.Installation of Concrete Footings:
          1.Place concrete around posts and vibrate or tamp for consolidation.
          2.Verify that posts are set plumb, aligned, and at correct height and spacing, and stabilized in position during placement and finishing operations until concrete is sufficiently cured.
          3.Protect portion of posts above ground from concrete splatter.
 
          3.3CLEANING AND PROTECTION
 
          A.Clean and protect products in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
