Metal accents, commonly referred to as ornamental metals, comprise a gamut of metal fabricated items for interior as well as exterior building envelopes. Available in a variety of designs and finishes, Nelson Architectural offers a wide range of components including bollards, kiosks, street furniture, specialty light fixtures, decorative trash receptacles, metal umbrellas and more.
Nelson's unique fabricating capabilities lend themselves to the manufacture of non-standard shapes and sizes which are often not readily available from other manufacturers. As a result, Nelson's metal accents have been the number one choice among many prestigious commercial, institutional and transportation facilities across North America.
While the most common materials include Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Core-Ten™, Galvalume™ and Stainless Steel, when it comes to finishes, alloys and thickness we are limited only by their availability from world-wide sources.
In addition to the aforementioned options, baked powder enamel, and two and three-coat fluoropolymer paints are commonly used to enhance the appearance of the components. Nelson also offers a wide range of linear, non-directional and selective brushed finishes, particularly in stainless steel, as well as faux-wood options like our exclusive Ourborite™ finish.

Ceilings
Metal ceiling panels are available in non-perforated and perforated varieties. Non-perforated panels offer little in terms of acoustical properties and as a result are generally used in instances where other features, for example ease of cleaning or a high degree of light reflectance, are predominant factors. To achieve good acoustics (sound absorption), a perforated aluminum panel with an open area of 15 to 20 percent, together with a black acoustical fleece (SoundTex®), could produce an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) of 0.70 or higher. For areas that require either increased NRC values or a higher degree of sound blocking (typically referred to as STC or Sound Transmission Class), SoundTex® used in combination with a fibreglass matt should be used for optimum sound absorption.

Metal Baffles are available both non-perforated (non-acoustic) and perforated (acoustic). Perforation patterns are limited only to the type of material and gauge chosen. Presently Nelson Architectural Metals Division offers more than fifty different perforation patterns ranging from diagonal, staggered to straight as well as round, square and oblong holes.
Our standard acoustical material consists of a Black pre-laminated fleece (SoundTex®) bonded to the inside surfaces of the baffles.

The Ourborite™ LUX Series features elevated aesthetics and durability with our new revolutionary (sample Wood Finishes) powder coating and sublimated finishes. This advanced manufacturing process begins with the application of a specially formulated powder coating, known for its superior adherence and resilience. This eco-friendly coating is electrostatically applied and then cured under high heat, creating a hard, protective layer that is significantly more resistant to scratches, chipping, and fading compared to traditional paints.
