Vertical panels are a great choice when wall space is limited, such as in vestibules, stairwells, next to full-height glazing, or walls with a lot of millwork such as kitchens. With tubes running vertically from floor to ceiling, a large amount of heating surface can be installed for a very small floor area. They fit into otherwise unused space, such as behind columns or doors, and can be recessed into the wall to clear door swings. Vertical panels can be manufactured in heights up to 29′-6″.

Provide steel double panel radiators of the lengths and in locations as indicated, and of capacities, style and having accessories as scheduled. The double heating panel radiation shall be of one-piece all-welded steel construction, consisting of a pair of flattened water tube panels welded to headers at each end. Welded to the inside of each panel shall be steel corrugated fins to increase the convective output of the radiator. The fins shall start at no less than 3" from the end of the radiator, and shall have no less than 32 fins per foot. The radiators shall include an integral heavy gauge (0.09" minimum) all-welded perforated top grille, which will cover the top of all of the finned areas (for curved radiators the grille is omitted).

R3F perimeter models can be ordered with finished panels on the backside for applications which are visible from the outside, such as floor to ceiling glass or mullion mounted radiators. Higher heat output is available by ordering panels with optional fins, or double/triple panel models which incorporate back-to-back layers of heating tubes.

Column radiators utilize evenly spaced, vertical flat tubing, and create a more transparent aesthetic suitable for freestanding installations or a discreet appearance in front of full-height glazing. Column radiators allow light to pass through and can make a dramatic design statement as full-height room dividers, balustrades, or knee walls. They also have higher BTU output than flat-orientation radiators due to the greater exposed surface area of the tubes. They are larger than panel radiators but smaller than cast iron radiators. Column radiators can be wall mounted, pedestal mounted, and curved.

Ceiling style radiators provide heat in spaces with no available wall space, such as stairwells or entryways. They are also an excellent solution for large, open plan spaces such as maintenance buildings or sports facilities. Ceiling panel radiators are hung from threaded rods and hangers and project a minimum of 3″ from the finished ceiling. Typical available panel sizes are 2′ to 29′-6″ long by 3″ to 70″ wide.

Runtal Thermotouch® (TT) low surface temperature radiators where surface temperature is a concern, such as schools, day cares, hospitals, or public spaces. The models are perimeter systems with a second layer of inactive tubes in front of the heating tubes. This reduces the front panel temperature by as much as 40 to 60°F less than the average water temperature. Due to their physical configuration, these units are both radiant and convective.

Curved Radiators and Segmented Radiators
Panel radiators can be factory curved or field curved to follow architectural walls. Concave and convex curves are possible. Field curved radiators suit larger curvatures, for example in auditoriums, lobbies, and cafeterias. This is a very cost-effective way to heat the perimeter of a curved building. Only single panel models can be field curved. The minimum radius of field curved radiators is 15′ with a minimum length of 15′. Factory curved radiators are used for smaller curves, such as bay windows or tight curves found in fine homes or historic buildings. Factory curved radiators have a maximum length of 20′ for non-finned radiators and 16′ for finned models. Their minimum radius is 5′ for non-finned models, and 10′ for finned models. Some double panel models can be factory curved.

Segmented Radiators
One-piece, factory segmented radiators can be ordered to fit bay windows. This creates a more finished look compared to three separate panels. The maximum angle of the bend is 135 degrees, as measured from face to face of the adjoining radiator segments.

Runtal's Column Radiators are an ideal solution where the view in is as important as the view out. Where the design calls for floor to ceiling glass, column radiators may be pedestal mounted in front of the glass without obstructing the view. Column radiators may also be used as room dividers or balustrade. They may be either wall mounted, or pedestal mounted both on the bottom as well as the top of the radiator. Please visit our Design Assistance and Custom Products page for more information on our Column Radiator options.

Many homes have cold or drafty rooms. Electric heaters are an excellent way to boost home comfort with a cost-effective solution. They are an ideal way to heat a cold room, an addition, or even an entire home. Due to the safety reputation of portable electric heaters, many people wonder if all electric heaters are unsafe.

Not all electric heaters are created equal. Wall-mounted electric heaters provide numerous advantages over portable electric heaters, especially when considering safety and ease of use. By design, wall-mounted heaters, including electric baseboard and wall panel units, have many advantages that make them much easier to use safely than portable heaters.

How do you stay warm in the winter?

If your property is near a major gas line, you may heat it that way. Or, you might choose electric heat or oil heat as an alternative.

While these solutions do the job, they can be costly and cumbersome to run. The average American homeowner who heats with gas will spend more than $2,500 over the season!

Have you considered electric radiators instead?

Quiet, efficient and reliable, some electric radiant heating  products are robust enough to warm your whole house while still being easy on your pocketbook.

Today, we're taking a look at a few different options and models on the market to help you understand your buying options and prepare your budget accordingly.

In this Question and Answer session, we sat down with Clark Zacaroli, Clark is a business development manager for Runtal North America, division of the Zehnder Group, a Swiss manufacturing organization focused on indoor air quality and comfort systems. Clark has spent the better part of 30 years working internationally in the heat transfer industry, including industrial and HVAC segments.

Clark, Why are bathrooms always so cold?
I have seen some people using fireplaces, but the reality there is something like that is super, super expensive and probably not realistic for most homeowners.
Do you ever see anybody use baseboard radiators in bathroom situations or is it mostly the towel warmer?
I see a lot of people trying to compare heated flooring vs towel warmers and baseboard radiators. What's the difference in your opinion?
These are good options for other parts even other parts of your home outside of your bathroom. Is that correct?
Why would someone want to take a look at Runtal products versus all the other ones that are on the market today?
