Xypex Crystalline and Antimicrobial Technologies
Microbially induced corrosion (MIC) is a growing concern for industries that rely on concrete infrastructure in environments exposed to hydrogen sulfide (H2S). From wastewater treatment plants to sewer systems, this unique form of biochemical corrosion can lead to the rapid degradation of concrete, jeopardizing the structural integrity and longevity of key infrastructure.
Although known for being a strong and versatile building material, there are a number of factors that affect the sustainability of concrete, and a variety of measures that can be taken to increase its durability and extend its service life, thus protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the users. This course discusses the environmental impact of concrete and some of the main causes of concrete deterioration, and examines how crystalline waterproofing technology can be employed to increase the durability and sustainability of concrete.
Historically, traditional waterproofing methods involve the placement of a barrier or membrane between the concrete and water. Unlike membranes and other surface systems, crystalline waterproofing is designed to make the concrete itself waterproof. This course discusses how crystalline waterproofing technology provides a high level of performance to concrete structures and what design professionals need to know in order to specify and understand how this chemical technology can improve building projects, cut costs, and help earn LEED® credits.

Accessories
XYPEX Megamix II is a thick repair mortar for the patching and resurfacing of deteriorated concrete. Megamix II has been specifically formulated to produce superior bond, low shrinkage, chemical durability and high strength. Can be spray or trowel applied.
FCM 80 is specifically designed for repairing cracks subject to movement, sealing construction joints, restoring deteriorated concrete, and waterproofing concrete structures. FCM 80 has exceptional adhesive and elongation characteristics and is often used in conjunction with the Xypex Crystalline Concrete Waterproofing and Protection System. FCM is a two component product consisting of a specialized liquid polymer dispersion and a cementitious powder. These components are mixed just prior to application.
A curing agent designed specifically for Xypex Concentrate and Modified applications. The use of Gamma Cure may eliminate the need for water curing the Xypex coating in some cases. Consult manufacturer for specific recommendation.
