Landscaping Design

Landscaping is the process of planting, cultivating, and designing sites with an emphasis on native plants, but also including non-native and exotic plants, trees, and grasses, and using principles of landscape architecture. Landscape design involves identifying the existing climate and soil conditions of a site, and then addressing the unique aspects of the desired style of the site, including the plants that will thrive in that style and the layout of the site, which often involves creating a transition from the surrounding site to the building, and then to the inside of the building. There are two main components of design: creative design and functional design. Creative design is the process of developing concepts and ideas that communicate the essence of a design. Functional design is the process of refining the layout of the site to ensure that all the requirements of the creative design are met.

Commercial landscaping is the design and installation of a landscape or garden using plants, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation. Some commercial landscaping services also may include designing outdoor furniture and other structures that complement the landscape. Commercial landscaping is a business that specializes in maintaining and improving the landscaping of properties in which the owner does not have the time or desire to do it themselves. It is a form of horticulture that involves a contractual arrangement between the landscaping company and the property owner.
