EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
Remodel: Bidder must visit job site and make complete survey of Project prior to bid and measure all window openings for sizing of new windows. Failure to do so does not relieve Successful Bidder from furnishing all materials required in accordance with specifications without additional cost to the Owner.
New Construction: Verify wall openings and adjoining air and vapor seal materials are clean, dry, and ready to receive Work of this Section. Verify rough openings are correct and sill plate is level.
Do not begin installation until the substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
PREPARATION
Remove new windows from crating and packaging. Verify all parts and accessories are included.
Remove old windows and accessories from window openings. Scrape and remove existing sealants from openings which will interfere with installation of new windows.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
For liners and blocking install preservative treated lumber only. Shim space must be of adequate depth to shim the entire depth of the new window frame.
