QUALITY ASSURANCE

Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
WARRANTY
Manufacturer's standard limited warranty unless indicated otherwise.

FASTENERS AND MISCELLANEOUS ACCESSORlES
Fastenings:
Anchors, fasteners, fittings, hardware, general: Corrosion-resistant anchors, fittings, and hardware with load design capacities calculated to meet pergola sizing requirements and all applicable federal, state, and local codes.
Fasteners: No. 14 or greater SAE grade 5, cadmium plate, or otherwise corrosion resistant in material and comply with the "Specifications for Aluminum Structures" by the Aluminum Association, Inc., and all applicable federal, state, and local codes, unless noted otherwise on the Drawings.

Anchorage to existing structures:
Concrete masonry units: 3/8 inch self-tapping screws by ITW Tapcon or equivalent, with 4 inch minimum embedment; spacing as indicated on Drawings.
Wood: 1/2 inch lag screws with 3 inch minimum thread penetration, and 3/4 inch minimum wood edge distance; spacing as indicated on Drawings.
Concrete: 5/16 inch self-tapping screws by ITW Tapcon or equivalent, with 4 inch minimum embedment; spacing as indicated on Drawings.
Wood blocking: Structural wood blocking as required.
Sealants: As recommended by the Manufacturer; comply with the requirements of Section 07 92 00 - Joint Sealants.

FABRlCATlON
Fabricate in accordance with final Shop Drawings.
Use fabrication methods required to achieve proper assembly and alignment of Work.
To greatest extent possible, complete fabrication, assembly, finishing and other Work before shipment to Project site. Disassemble components only as necessary for shipment and installation.
Form exposed Work true to line and level, with flush surfaces and accurate angles.
Complete cutting, fitting, forming, drilling and grinding of metal Work prior to cleaning, finishing, surface treatment and application of finishes.
Provide reinforcement and anchorage required to fulfill performance requirements. Provide brackets and miscellaneous components required for complete installation.
Conceal fastenings unless otherwise indicated and accepted on final Shop Drawings.
Provide brackets, fasteners, and other components with each assembly, as required for proper support and anchorage to other Work.
EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
Do not begin installation until the substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
PREPARATION
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
INSTALLATION
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals, and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
Field Inspection: Coordinate field inspection in accordance with appropriate sections in Division 01.
