VERSATEX XCEED lap siding has exceptional features, such as a unique VZ Drop-Lock that simplifies installation, an IR heat reflective capstock and 16 foot panels that reduce butt joints. Similar to vinyl siding, but with butt joints secured by a nail hem bracket and screws for a better on the wall appearance. Trim options include 1 inch pocketed stealth corners, stealth trim, and custom frieze board and custom starter/ skirtboard. S4S trim is ideal due to the soft, textured appearance of XCEED. XCEED is unlike traditional wood sidings that crack, check, and cup over time due to moisture, as well as fiber cement and wood composite sidings that still require paints for protection - just high aesthetic value with little to no maintenance ever required.
VERSATEX has been dedicated to superior quality and performance for over 20 years. In that tradition, XCEED Siding by VERSATEX has been carefully developed and tested and is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. XCEED is a beautiful and elegant addition to a home's exterior, dormers, or gables. Available in a 4-1/2 inch reveal lap, in six next generation UV resistant colors.

Fasteners:
Use 12 gauge stainless steel fasteners designed for cellular PVC siding and trim. Fastener should have sufficient flexural and tensile strength to resist bending.
Use fasteners with thin shanks, blunt points, and full round heads that are long enough to penetrate the substrate a minimum of 1-1/2 inches.
Do not use staples, small brads and wire nails. Avoid using fine threaded wood screws and ring-shank fasteners.
Use standard nail guns with a pressure setting between 70 psi and 100 psi. The recommended pressure depends on the type of gun, type of nail, ambient temperature, and the substrate. Care should be taken not to overdrive the nail into the material.
Pre-drilling is not typically required unless large fasteners are used or the product is installed during temperatures below 40 degrees F.
Use two fasteners for every framing member for trimboard applications. Sheet and trimboards 8 inches and wider require additional fasteners.
Install fasteners no more than 2 inches from the end of each board.
Avoid fastening siding or trim over hollow or uneven areas. Fasten onto flat, solid substrates.
Nail Hole Filler: Cortex plug system by Fasten Master.
XCEED Sealants: NPC Solar Seal # 900 with associated color standard # as follows. Use only urethane, polyurethane, polymer blends or acrylic based sealants that do not contain silicone.
Vail White NPC# 53
Monument Grey NPC# 202
Mojave Tan NPC# 32
Centennial Stone NPC# 326
Heritage Blue NPC# 272
Sequoia Green NPC# 06
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Coordinate with Section 07 91 00 Joint Sealants to verify compatible materials are specified. Use only urethane, polyurethane, polymer blends or acrylic based sealants that do not contain silicone
PVC Trim Sealants:
Use only urethane, polyurethane, polymer blends or acrylic based sealants that do not contain silicone as specified in Section 07 91 00 - Joint Sealants.
EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
PREPARATION
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
INSTALLATION
General: Install in accordance with manufacturer's current printed instructions.
Cutting:
Cellular PVC siding and trim can be cut using standard woodworking saws. Conventional carbide-tipped blades designed for cutting wood are preferred. Avoid using fine-tooth metal-cutting blades.
Rough-cut edges are typically caused by excessive friction, poor board support, or worn or improper tooling.
Drilling:
Cellular PVC siding and trim can be drilled using standard woodworking twist drill bits which allow for adequate chip removal to reduce heat buildup and chip re-welding.
Avoid frictional heat build-up.
Remove shavings periodically from a drill hole as necessary.
Milling and Moulding:
Cellular PVC trim can be milled or moulded using standard milling or moulding machines found in millwork shops.
Rake angle 20 to 30 degrees. 25 degrees is recommended.
Cutting speed to be optimized with the number of knives and feed rate.
Routing:
Cellular PVC trim can be routed with virtually any piece of equipment used to rout wood.
Carbide tipped router bits are recommended.
Machinery that allows for multiple cutting speeds will allow you to optimize the process obtaining a smoother finished part.
Edge Finishing:
Traditional sanding, grinding or filing tools used for woodworking are preferred.
Expansion and Contraction:
Cellular PVC siding and trim expands and contracts with changes in temperature. Properly fastening along the entire length is required to minimize expansion and contraction. See manufacturer's requirements for installation at different temperatures.
Cleaning:
Clean Cellular PVC siding and trim with mild detergent and water.
Products with pumice, such as Soft Scrub, may be applied with a nylon brush.
For more stubborn stains use a mild household cleaner and degreaser like Clorox Cleanup, Clorox Outdoors, Denatured Alcohol, Bleach, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or Corte Clean with nylon brush.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Versatex does not require painting for protection. If painting is preferred, follow these guidelines.
Painting:
Be sure surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free of dirt, loose or peeling paint, mildew, chalk, grease and any other surface contaminants before paint application.
Finish nail holes with nail hole filler or a UV resistant acrylic caulk.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Coordinate with Section 09 90 00 - Painting and Coating to verify compatible materials are specified.
Paint as specified in Section 09 90 00 - Painting and Coating.
Use 100 percent acrylic latex or 100 percent acrylic latex with urethane additive paint with a light reflective value (LRV) equal to or greater than 55 units.
Follow the paint manufacturer's application recommendations.
PROTECTION
Protect installed products until completion of project.
Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
