Three Gisborne Schools have recently undergone a much needed retrofit of their older and relocatable, kitset classrooms as part of New Zealand's Ministry of Education Modern Learning Environment program. This project was initiated when it was identified that these types of buildings had potential structural failings and an upgrade of the structural integrity would present several benefits and extend the building life a further 20 years.

As the business expanded it soon became apparent that the fast-paced, busy sales environment produced excessive levels of noise, making it difficult for advisers to communicate with customers over the phone.

Westmount School recently refurbished their Kaipara campus to include a new learning center designed around forward thinking learning styles. The modern learning center includes a large open collaborative area, banquette seating and glazed brainstorm and project rooms. Although aesthetically pleasing; the hard surfaces and large open area had the potential to produce high levels of noise reverberation and create a disruptive learning environment.

Creating an environment which was inviting and comfortable was an essential goal in ensuring 'Charlie & George™ was a welcoming space for their customers. Since opening in September 2013, staff quickly noticed that the concrete floors and large glass windows were creating echoes and reverberated noise, impacting the experience that they wanted to provide their customers.
