The unenclosed wheelchair lift or vertical platform lift can be used in a residential or commercial setting.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use in Acme Screw and Hydraulic drive systems. You will also find these lifts in commercial settings for accessible office entrances, stadium seating, or low-rise elevation changes.

Commercial Applications:
Low-rise commercial lift

The Symmetry Unenclosed vertical platform lift is limited to 60 inches of travel maximum, will have a platform gate on the lower landing side, and will have either an upper landing door or gate. In addition, it must have a safety sensor panel on the underside of the platform.

If an unenclosed lift is traveling down and something is below it, the safety sensor will engage when the obstruction is encountered, and the lift will stop moving down. After that, the lift will be able to travel away from the obstruction, and normal operation will continue once the obstruction is removed.

Cibes Symmetry LULA

The Symmetry LULA elevator is industry-leading in terms of quality, style, and design possibilities. It is also a space-efficient accessibility solution that requires less building adaptation than a conventional passenger elevator. If you are looking for an attractive and user-friendly lift solution that caters for the needs of schools, churches, multi-family housing units, libraries, and more, our LULA elevator is a great choice.

What is a LULA lift?
LU/LA stands for Limited Use/Limited Application. The LULA lift provides access for low occupancy/low rise commercial buildings where a traditional passenger elevator is not feasible or required by code. It is ideal for applications up to 6 stops and 25 ft (standard) or 40 ft (with approved variance) of travel.

All LULA elevators are limited by speed, travel, and capacity in order to comply with ASME A17.1 Section 5.2 and the ADA. Also check with your local authorities as they may have additional requirements.

LULA elevator benefits
To explain why our LULA elevator will save you space, time and money, we give you a shortlist of some of its main benefits:

  • Shallowest pit depth in the industry (13" pit).

  • Shortest overhead in the industry (104").

  • Low shaft construction requirements compared to larger commercial elevators.

  • Lower code requirements on maintenance compared to larger commercial elevators.

  • All lights are energy saving LED, including control panel and car lights.

  • Includes directional level indicators.

  • Single phase power supply.

Shaftless home elevators are space-saving and efficient accessibility solutions, but some are more space-saving than others. Thanks to the incredibly compact design of the Ascenda residential elevator, you now have the possibility to age in place comfortably and preserve a maximum of your square footage.

In addition, the Ascenda Elevator only requires minimal building alterations, making it easier and more affordable than ever to render your two-story home accessible.

A shaftless elevator for home use is designed to travel through one single-floor opening between two floors. Unlike larger elevators, a shaftless elevator does not require a shaftway, elevator pit, or machine room, resulting in a very small installation footprint. The integrated sliding doors are also more space-saving than swing doors, allowing you to maximize your floor space.

Unlike other home elevators, shaftless lifts are operated with hold-to-run, which makes your home lift very safe and easy to use. Hold-to-run means that the elevator travels when you maintain pressure on the button and stops when you release the pressure. For the safety of you and your loved ones, sensors on the top and bottom of the elevator instantly stop the lift in case any obstructions are detected.

The Ascenda by Cibes is a user-friendly solution for individuals with mobility limitations. It also offers you greater flexibility than a stair lift, as it has the ability to transport a person in a wheelchair. Furthermore, a shaftless home elevator is also more aesthetically appealing than a stair lift and offers you a wider range of mobility options. So, if you are thinking about buying a stair lift, a shaftless residential lift is a space-saving and attractive option to consider.

Primarily utilized to provide an accessibility solution when a shaftway is already in place.

A shaftway vertical platform lift is designed for enclosed shaftway applications in public and private facilities at travel heights up to 168″.

Commercial applications
Where the travel is greater than 60 inches, the lift must be enclosed. If a contractor has built a shaft for the lift to operate within, it is a Shaftway Lift.

The entrance doors to the lift can be provided by others or ordered with the lift.

The hoistway must be designed to allow for the lift, running clearances, and structural requirements.

*Keep in mind that VPL hoistway doors are required to be flush to the interior of the hoistway to prevent shear/pinch points.

The Symmetry Hybrid lift looks and feels like an elevator but operates like a vertical platform lift.

The lift is installed in a shaft with swing doors on each landing, no gates on the car, and the ceiling is not load-bearing. The controls of the hybrid lift are constant pressure, so the user has complete control of the car's movement.

Commercial applications
A Hybrid Lift is a shaftway lift that has gone the extra mile. Designed in a manner to dress up a VPL, hybrid lifts look much like a residential elevator, with wood walls and ceiling and many options for control fixture finishes.

Installed in a hoistway, the hybrid is accessed through hoistway doors, and no gates are present in the system. According to code, the ceiling must be non-load-bearing, so you have the option of a breakaway wood ceiling or an egg crate ceiling.

Hybrid lift options
The Symmetry Hybrid lift can be manufactured from wood or metal and tailored to your preferences. Customize the doors and car to match the style and decor of your building.

Like an elevator, the hybrid also features handrails and fixtures, such as COPs and landing controls, available in various materials and designs.
