Hollow Metal Doors (Steel Doors)

Our quality steel doors are American made, manufactured by Mesker Door in Huntsville, Alabama. We call them the "N"-Series because they're Non-handed (reversible), giving you much greater flexibility when installing our standard N-Series hollow metal doors.

Our doors have the cost-savings flexibility of being non-handed with square edges. And they're flush, constructed with two face sheets of 14-gauge steel, with a stretcher-leveled quality of flatness. The vertical edges are ground and finished to give your hollow metal doors a smooth and seamless appearance. All hinge reinforcements are 3/16 inch steel projection-welded to the steel door edge at 3 points above and 3 points below the hinge mortise.

Stiffeners increase the weight of a steel door, putting significant pressure on the opening and sometimes making them difficult to open for seniors and children. The vertical stiffeners in a hollow metal door also mean that pressure on the corners or the sides of the door with cause it to twist. Last but not least, stiffeners are welded into a steel door every six inches which may result in blemishes on the surface. Our fully welded seamless door does away with all of those disadvantages while saving you money.

Our unique design of the Mesker temperature rise door has earned it a best-in-class rating for heat transmission, as tested by Underwriters Laboratory in accordance with ASTM E152. Using premium fiberboard core, our temperature rise door keeps the side of the door not exposed to fire below 250 degrees F for 30 minutes. Our competitors' temperature rise doors may reach 400 degrees F - enough to remove human skin when touched. Do your research. Talk with fire authorities. You'll find agreement that temperature rise doors which transfer less heat, less quickly are safer.

Our innovative hollow metal door is so versatile that you avoid problems that may arise with other products. All hinge reinforcements are 3/16 inch steel projection-welded to door edge at three points above and 3 points below the hinge mortise. Both N-Series and 14 gauge hollow metal doors have 16 gauge top and bottom channels welded to door skins on 4 inch centers. All 1-3/4 inch doors have factory-installed box type closer reinforcements to reinforce both sides of door. Frames

Our standard F-series masonry frame is the best stock hollow metal assembly in the industry. We use only the best materials, such as 16 or 14 gauge cold rolled steel or A60 Galvannealed steel for corrosive applications. To insure consistent and accurate quality, we also use state-of-the-art technology, such as our computer-controlled MIG welders and an overhead trolley line paint booth. We surpass the industry requirements by using 3/16 inch hinge reinforcements to outlast the heaviest hollow metal doors.

Unlike our competitors, we use only 16 gauge cold-rolled or A60 Galvannealed steel for our FDJ-series drywall frames that are designed to be pressure-fitted to the wall, improving unit life and ensuring durability with less torsion and sagging. Our heavier gauge steel drywall frame means you have the option to weld in stronger 3/16 inch hinge reinforcements to hang heavier wood or metal doors.

Because cleanliness is vitally important in hospitals and senior care facilities, Mesker door offers a hospital stop frame, also known as a terminated stop frame. Our angled hospital stops terminate at three optional heights from the floor - 4, 6 and 8 inches, which creates spaces that are easy to clean. Mops and floor cleaning devices of all kinds can move under the stop, and get rid of bacteria and microbes which cause infection. The hospital stops also provide easier access, by keeping the opening clear, so bed wheels do not catch on the stop of the hollow metal frame when patients are moved in or out of rooms.

The STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a way of measuring how much sound is lost when it travels through a barrier, such as a sound door assembly, also called an acoustical door assembly. The STC rating of sound door assemblies rise as less and less sound penetrates through it. That STC rating is roughly the difference in decibel reduction as the sounds travels from the source, through the barrier, and to the other side of the sound door assembly (acoustical door assembly). So, if 80 decibels of sound went through sound doors and only 50 decibels makes it to the other side, the sound doors are said to have an STC of 30. The graph below gives you an idea of what kind of sound reduction is allowed by each STC door rating.
