Shop Drawings: Indicate dimensions of individual components and profiles, layout, joints, expansion joints, material descriptions, construction details, methods of anchorage, and interface with adjacent materials and finishes for each type of screen and accessory.
LEED Submittals: Knotwood aluminum components may contribute to relevant LEED v4.1 Material & Resources (MR) and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) credits, particularly in relation to durability, recycled content, and low-emitting coatings.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with a minimum of five years documented experience.
Experience producing aluminum finishes of the types specified in AAMA 2604.
Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum three years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.
Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
The intent of a mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
If the mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild the mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
Retain mock-up during construction as a standard for comparison with completed work.
Do not alter or remove mock-up until work is completed or removal is authorized.
PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items, and approvals.
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
Package and store products under cover in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for transport and installation.
Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
Unload and store prefinished material off ground protected from weather, to prevent warping, twisting, bending, or abrasion.
Prevent contact with materials capable of causing discoloration or staining.
Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results.
Do not fabricate or install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
Weather limitations: Proceed with installation when existing and forecasted weather conditions permit assembly of metal fabrications to be performed in accordance with manufacturers' written instructions and warranty requirements.
COORDINATION
Coordinate work with installation of adjacent components or materials to provide a leakproof, secure, and noncorrosive installation.
WARRANTY

Knotwood aluminum components are inherently non-combustible.
Where required by code, cladding and soffit systems installed on commercial or multi-story projects must be assessed as part of a complete wall assembly in accordance with NFPA 285.
Knotwood products have also been evaluated to ASTM E84 with a Class A rating.

Pretreatment: Chrome Free five stage aluminum pretreatment system. Complies with AAMA 2604 Performance Standard and meets EPA, OSHA, State and Local environmental requirements and contains no chromates, cyanides, or other heavy metals. Waste treatment is usually a simple pH neutralization and disposal to the sanitary sewer.
Dulux Group Mannex base coat and Duratec Series electrostatic applied Architectural Powder Coatings are approved to AAMA 2604 Performance Standard.
Gloss Level: Standard Gloss is 30 percent, plus or minus 5 percent.
Super Durable Powder Coatings: Aluminate Premium Wood Finishes use a polyurethane powder coat with ink-based wood grain patterns sublimated into the base powder effectively tattooing the powder coating. The combined effect creates all the aesthetic aspects of real wood while offering the same environmental advantages of powder coated finishes.

Prepare surfaces, pre-treat, and coat components in accordance with AAMA 2604 Quality Standards.
Wrap and package coated components using methods suitable for transit and covered site storage without damage.
EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
Do not begin installation until the substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.
Verify if framing or structural components are ready to receive the Knotwood system.
If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect, Contract Administrator, or Construction Manager of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
PREPARATION
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
INSTALLATION
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals, and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.
Barrier Protection: Do not install over cementitious materials, dissimilar metals or pressure treated material without adequate barrier protection.
Fasten siding to structural supports; aligned, level, and plumb.
Locate joints over supports.
Use concealed fasteners as per manufacturer's instructions unless otherwise approved by Architect.
Install Screens and accessories in accordance with best practice, with all joint members plumb and true.
Allow for expansion and contraction of materials according to manufacturer's instructions.
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
After installation of Screens, check entire surface for obvious flaws or defects.
Replace and repair any problem areas, paying close attention to the substrate for causes of the problem.
CLEANING AND PROTECTION
After application of Screens, clean as necessary to remove all fingerprints and soiled areas.
Upon completion of Screen application, clean entire area, removing all scrap, packaging and unused materials related to this work.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
